Sir,

He is going to be smashed harder than Gen. Kiyani----you know why----because Gen Kiyani was already a weak su-ck---a worthless general---. People did not attach their hopes with him

Gen Raheel on the hand was a man of action---and when he did not perform to his maximum capabilities people are going to take him to task and rightfully so. People had hung their hopes on him---and when he failed them---they will castrate him.
He can do nothing when people have false and stupid hopes. Specially when very same people vote for terrorists like MQM and PPP and corrupt mafias like PMLN and ANP. Why Raheel Shareef should clean the mess which people themselves placed on their heads ?

Hi,

When you begged Allah for mercy and His forgiveness and asked for His help---did the Lord say, " you stupid fool---you have made this mistake 10 times and yet you come to My door begging ".

People attach their hopes to those in power who give them a hope to make a change---. Gen. Raheel gave them a hope against corruption---he promised them something---and then he pulled back.

Pakistani generals have no vision---. Just because the generals have failed---must it mean that they do not try.

Ghaznavi failed 17 times----Mongols failed multiple times to conquer china---.

Don't blame the people---they know no better---that is why people with character and courage need to take charge of the majority.

Do you think that Americas are intelligent people who know whom to elect----they are as dumb as any other voter---. The only thing is that their system is strong---and how did it get strong----

It got strong because those who brought democracy t the and made sure beforehand that there was order in the land---the rule of law could be imposed and the writ of the state established---ground set for publicly elected members of congress, senate, president and vice pres at the national level and also for elected members at state level.

For Gen Raheel----theist time was to take over after the APS attack----. The second best tie was after the univ attack.

My point of view or opinion is slightly different Gen Raheel done and doing tremendous Job but my argument is that We have many even better Generals than him basically i love the institution and for that i don't need idols to worship. Gen Haroon Islam was a strong candidate but again civilian retard wants to install his puppet and failed miserably. I believe Gen Raheel wants to set the standards by not getting extension.

Again solute to brave man who wants to screw the corrupt.
Fair enough, and I touched on that, when I replied to MK. The army, as an institution, is more important than one man. The people need to place their faith in the army, not the COAS, whom just represents the army.

I have never ever heard a more stupid title !
How so? There are people that considered him a hero, but are now criticizing him as a coward. I think the title I chose, fits my words.

If you have a better title, I'm all ears.

I have Few points
People forget one thing Army isnt just one man show its institution so when every general keeps getting extension it just mess up things
Problem with most pakistani people is that they are simply too idiots to understand whats happening
Army's job is to defend borders and country not to run politics but problem is everyone leader cries about democracy but politicians and the common people are the one hurting it .
Kiyani and Raheel both served there country well
Leme put it in simple words people are happy when afridi is trying to hit every ball but get bored misbah plays a slow game while rest of his time is loosing wickets
Kiyani was a spy he faced problem nationally and from international community , politicians and world even pakistani people weren't trusting Pakistani armed forces
To big of gap every where so he coudnt just go out and play cow boy and risk millions of lifes of his fellow citizen he made a stage and gave it to raheel and he used it marvellously now its the turn for next turn
People forget one thing the organisation which is behind every coas army . All of them are fighting its not just one person give them some space one mission at a time and losing is not a option
Literally what i was thinking.

. .
First of all he has not been even offered any extension. Secondly if he had been offered extension and he had accepted it then in that case in place of this very thread we would have found a thread as GEN RAHEEL: A NEW KIYANI IN MAKING???
We just need something and some reason to blame anyone else other than us.

Hi,

Criminals take advantage of the system----they were stopped at two terms---they abolished the two terms as well.

Stupid LAW ABIDING citizens want to fall on their swords and be known as heroes---and the criminals clap them for that.

When would these LAW ABIDING citizens learn that they are also needed more the the helm than the criminals---that is when you will see things changing.

Gen. Raheel's tenure has been a drama----just because his brother was a nishan a haider---people thought he was of the same caliber---.

Pakistan don't need nice guys and honorable men---pakistan needs ars-eholes who can govern---create order in the society and provide the rule of law to the society to begin with---.

Sadly---Gen Raheel is not one of them.

My issue is partly with his extension---but mostly with the drama that he created to take out the financial terrorism---.

We are personality worshipers, we need idols to make them our hero and quite often ditch them when we get new one.

Hi,

When you are poor---weak or in hope less condition----you are looking for a power figure---when you find a power figure with a bit of character in him---you praise them--you make them a focus of your attention---and you let them know that they are your hope.

If you are a muslim and you believe in the day of judgement---then rest assured---that the Gen would be questioned by his Lord---" I gave you the power and resource to make the difference----you were the least selectable candidate on merit and yet I made sure that you got picked for the job--now tell Me---what did you do for my people "----.

But that would be too late for pakistan----. Every one of us that are able and capable to bring some kind of change would be asked this question---the thing is---the more power that you have---the more ruthless the questioning be---.

This is just a moral part of the discussion.

The basic selection criteria for a general in chief of the pak army is the most DOCILE and YESSIR type of man---. But a general is still a general----put your hand on anyone's back---and you will be stung real hard.

If the General was any smarter----and loyal to pakistan rather than the army and to Nawaz----he would have overthrown Nawaz after the APS school attack---basing the attack on the school as a lack of control by the govt and the onslaught of isis in the region and then hit the terrorists hard in pakistan----a blitzerbleiter---.

If pakistanis think that their generals are studs----just name one pakistani General of the Caliber of General Kuldip Singh Brar---who took charge of the situation that was given to him---and bulldozed right thru without any discretion.

Compare Gen Raheel to Gen Sisi---. Gen Sisi was also and under dog general---but he realized very well what his nation was facing---even though there was a legally elected govt in the state---but that govt was that of islamic brotherhood---and he knew which way it was headed---.

He wanted to save his nation---he acted to save his nation---he knew sanctions were coming----he cared less about the sanctions---and overthrew a terrorist islamic govt.

It was similar in pakistan as well---Nawaz govt is a terrorist sympathizer govt---Gen Raheel had the same oportunity---in Egypt was a man of action and character Gen Sisi---in pakistan was a man of Jee Sir---Jee Hazoor---mentality.

I find it ironic that the same people praising him for his many accomplishments, are now attacking General Raheel Sharif for doing nothing for the country. Perhaps it is because many of these people naively expted him to arrest corrupt politicians, or commit a coup; Maybe they expected him to stop terrorism altogether.

We have seen such things in the past, with previous before their retirement. There were many people on this very forum, calling for rt.Gen. Keyani's promotion to 5 star general, before his retirement. Now, he's blamed for every little incident of terrorism in the country, by those same people. Many calling him incompetent, or a failure, not realizing that he (and currently Gen Sharif) did their best with the circumstances presented.

Now, with Pakistan's current COAS' announcement of not taking an extension, he's being attacked for not being serious about terrorism, or corruption in the country; forgetting that COAS has authorised corruption cases against former and current military officers, and launched Pakistan's biggest and most successful offensive to date, against terrorist targets. The same people who attack him, seem to forget that he's a military leader, not the head of state. He has no authority to arrest politicians, without the express permission of the parliament, courts, or through justification of use of NAP and terror laws (which he has no material justification to use).

With the circumstances presented, General Sharif has done a splendid job, dropping terrorism incidents down by around 50% nationally, increasing Pakistan's perception globally, and launching massive military operations in NWA and authorizing action in Karachi. As far as I'm concerned, all he needed to do is lay the foundation for Pakistan's terrorism-free future, and he has done just that. To me, he has more than deserved his retirement from the military, and I truly hope he gets into politics as a civilian. It is up to the future COAS to finish the job, and I am sure that he too will face unjust vicious attacks as well.

Make no mistake, Gen Sharif is a hero. The criticisms, and vicious attacks that he has faced by the very people who praised him just a few weeks prior to his retirement announcement, are unjust and folly. He did his best, and the mistakes he made, no one could have seen them coming. Remember, hindsight is 20/20, and it takes a particularly naive person to suggest otherwise.

Thoughts?

The popularity of Gen is based on 3 C.

Gen Raheel sharief is the man of character, courage and
competence.

He practice these values, and has been teaching to his cadets being commandant Pakistan Military Academy.

He decided not to accept extension because he know Army is the great institution. People will continue his legacy.

It is not the mandate of the military to punish politicians for corruption. It is the core responsibility of the NAB and supreme court.

If these institutions are powerless and hijacked by the corrupt political gangs, supreme court can order military to take over and accomplish your constitutional responsibilities as state is in danger.

Many people argue that our judicial system is floped and we dont have any high hopes from judiciary.

So where is the collective wisdom of our society? why people dont demand from military to clean Pakistan under leadership of Raheel Sharief?

I agree it is not the mandate of the military. Thats why Gen Raheel Sharief decided to respect the mandate of people of Pakistan. If he thinks he cannt push the system to logical end without collateral damage, then there is no point to accept extension .

Now it is upto our fellow countrymen to steer the fate of future generations.

Good Luck @That Guy

and Thank You Raheel Sharif

Of course he will be. He has done a great service to Pakistan and its people by combatting terrorism. Yes there have been lapses but those lapses will continue until we implement NAP to the fullest. Even then it will take time. Why? Bcz issues created for decades will not be solved in a year or two ?

However there will be group of people who will hate him? Why? Bcz these people have no clue what they seek. They don't know whether they want martial law or do they want a democratic set up and this nation has been runned by these fos who celebrate when a dictator takes over and a decade later take out rallies to remove him bcz they want democracy. They have no understanding nor can they answer what form of system they seek.

Since Pakistan's inception not a single govt was able to complete its tenure apart from 2008-2013 govt. How can you lose faith in a system if you don't give it time? Just like we have not given dictatorship of a single leader due time as well. Thus we have failed to implement any one system and bcz of this we have suffered a lot. If you want raheel to tackle corruption ( not his job at all) then give him power and dont whine ten years later that we can't stand it ..

Then there is a group who wanted him to again breach the democratic levels and put every politician in jail apart from Imran khan so that imran can finally become PM and those group members can be happy without any sense of consequences.

The reason why we today can't capture any politician nor could we streghten courts is bcz we kept jumping around between these two ruling methods.. We didn't give democracy five years.

Democracy is the right of people and we have given the tools to write our own fates. If you find nawaz incompetent and corrupt then don't elect him. He is elected bcz he has support. We as a nation loom for saviours and thus would rather sit back and do nothing and let the saviours handle this but that's not how reality works. We have to get and do the work to improve our nation
..

Raheels biggest crime is that he became a saviour in the eyes of an immature nation who have no understanding about anything. We will never excel and its not bcz of the politicians but bcz of us. We are immature. Other nations are mature and have the will and power and self confidence to stand on their own two feet yet we need saviours and messiahs to hold our hands...

Those that criticize him and want him to do civilian work should openly come out and say that they want him to attain power and stay in power for life so that he can solve this and they don't trust democracy....

Those that want him to combat corruption. So he kills them all. Then what? Do we stay in military control forever? Do we clone raheek Sharif again and again? How can you assure the next batch of people won't be corrupt. If you don't civilians to handle their own fates then perhaps you should advocate military rule forever. Otherwise we give democracy a chance and we finally buckle up and stand up as a nation.... Give this process time. We must streghten ourselves and our court and NAB ourselves...
