COAS Gen Bajwa intends to cut army strength of 5,38,000 substantially over next 5 years

The instructions are to reduce it by 25 % eventually. Lets see how bajwa carries out these instructions
Instructions are to disband the army and make Pakistan South Asia's Switzerland. ;-)

I am sure we have a lot of fat we can cut, for instance soldiers serving tea in Ministry of Defence Accounts department in 'Pindi or making more non core roles civilian in places like NLC. We still have a lot of soldiers doing roles that are not related to combat duties. UK used to have same problem and privatised many areas so armed forces could focus on their roles, I think they went to extremes and we should not follow completly but there are some areas we can learn from them. Also I am sure more organisations can become joint service (for example we have a PAF and a Navy hospital right next to each other in Islamabad, makes no sense).
I think all of the services can access the other service's hospitals and thus the concept of Combined Military Hospitals (CMH). When in Karachi, PNS Shifa was a commonly used CMH facility by the personnel of the PAF, PA and obviously PN.

If true, then the reason may be (?) :

Bajwa said [he probably had a little slip of tongue in one sentence, but you'll get the point]:

"finally one quick and important lesson, as a military man, that emerges from Russia-Ukraine conflict which must be highlighted over here and that is that it is the preeminence or dominance of fire power over mobility [I think he wanted to say mobility over fire power ? ] as was the case during first war this has given a heart to smaller country that they can still defend their territory with smaller but agile forces against an aggression by a bigger country by carrying out selective modernization in equipment and adopting novel ideas and this is the course we intend following for our future developmental studies"

i.e. Redirect some spending on quality from quantity (?)

Full txt of his speech here:

I think it's different. Money is much more important now when global trade is on fire everywhere.

1. New generation of weapons are entering service worldwide. This generation of military technology is way above the previous one. The shift is akin jet aviation, and nukes made over any other weapon.

2. US, AND Russia are on the backfoot, and they will be busy with each other for next 5-10 years. So, if anything happens in Asia, big daddy from Moscow/Washington will not intervene, nor fund one of sides.

3. Pakistan's own internal situation is uncertain. He doesn't know how army funding will be in the future, and he doesn't know what officer corps internal mood will be if too much people will have nothing to do in the new reality.

A correct move

Your last sentence actually reinforces my argument about what it takes to win wars.
no, it doesnt. you need someone to fire those systems. even if you have an edge, which we dont, a lesser number of troops will eventually lead to losses due to attrition, hence less people left to fire and use said systems.

You don't need an infantry battalions worth of troops to man a UAV Battalion.

Bad habits die hard. And when it comes to the military, it's even harder 😜
The Army just carried out a coup against an elected government and installed a bunch of corrupt looters in its place.

While I’ll continue to support Army ops against terrorists & other external threats, there should be no doubt that the Army leadership (General Bajwa specially) are traitors and sell outs and deserve no support or respect.

Who knew Ayaz Sadiq would turn out to be correct - General Bajwa did piss his pants.

At this point just spare us common folk all the pain and reduce the army to 100K personnel. Significantly less land would be needed for future DHA and Askari projects, sparing the country some hard earned money. Missile vi aiwai chalonde ne. Jadon load hondi us wele sutte honde.

Oh right I forgot, money would be used for high tech equipment. Silly me.

Can someone from the Military please stop this MADMAN Traitor called Bajwa from cutting the Military?? Are all the Corps Commanders also CORRUPT??

Pakistan main problem is money, which can do wonders.
But the small amount of it generates, is largely consumed by these thieves..
Shameful taking money from the poor...
