Thanks for your coal details. i have studied abt the coal quality, which is not good. This type coal is not suitable for the chain grate type boiler, but is ok for the CFB type boiler. The value and ash content is low.
Chain grate boilers are essentially direct fire boilers where the fuel is carried on a mechanical grate which returns after dropping out the ash, more like a conveyor belt. I was under the impression that anything that burns such as saw dust, bark, wood shavings etc. can be used as fuel in the chain grate stoker boilers for small size power plants (below 50 MW).
I have come across literature where flue gas from the power plant is recirculated to dry lignite prior to combustion. For the sake of improving my knowledge, I would like to know why Thar Lignite can’t be used as fuel in a chain grate boiler after it has been dried as above.
