The money is not much but could be a big improvement for the local desert people, and most importantly they learned a skill which they can use to support themselves and families in the future.

Engro is known for its social uplift programs like free snake bite treatment, hospital upgradation, scholarships to top local students till university degree, maternity clinics and schools with free education for locals. The above are going on at daharki from where the company started since its inception in 70s.
In thar they have already built houses , roads, provided employment and now fixed a mandatory requirement to hire a minimum off or a preference for locals, district or provincial workers. The social uplift results would take a few years to be visible.
