Upto age 11 school should be mixed. Girls are naturally better behaved in class and have a positive impact on the behaviour of young boys (who follow the good example they set).

After age 11 classes should not be mixed because in thier teen years both boys and girls are full of hormones and likely to lose focus in class and act out in front of thier friends and to impress the other gender. It's scientifically proven teenage boys perform better academically in single 53x environments.

I think the same should be true in college but by university age people should have the maturity to study professionally in a mixed environment.

Regarding the whole "sexual" side of it, I don't see it as a problem. I went to school in the UK and it was a non issue. The people who were hoes would be in any situation.
