PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered finalisation and submission of the plan of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit Project within a week for approval so that its completion could be ensured till December 2017.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting convened to discuss the proposed project to be established as part of Mass Transit System in Peshawar here on Thursday, said a handout.
Special assistants to chief minister on transport and information, Shah Muhammad Wazir and Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Member Provincial Assembly Shaukat Yousafzai, District Nazim Muhammad Asim, and high-ups of other departments attended the meeting.
Secretary Transport and consultants briefed the participants of the
meeting on the salient features of the project.
The meeting was told that five different corridors would be established under the proposed project to make flow of city traffic smooth. The Asian Development Bank would fund the project.
The chief minister asked the authorities to give final touches to the plan of the corridor-II portion of the project within one week, stretching from Chamkani to Hayatabad.
Pervez Khattak directed the officials to finalise the details for acquiring 100 buses to start the service in Peshawar in the next six months.
The chief minister ordered establishment of parking plazas and bus stops in a week period to solve traffic problems in the area.
