Clinton to Iran: Show that nuclear arms not sought

Iran has no legal right to nuclear weapons. It signed its legal right away for dual use equipment under the npt.

Legal right - no, moral right - yes, considering Iran is constantly threatened by the nuclear countries. One CIA official said straight up "In Iranians place I would make nukes to deter".

If Iran has no intention to obtain nuclear weapons then their course of action is obvious, and has long been obvious.

You mean, Iran should give up its nuclear program altogether? Not going to happen :)

If basic utilities in the cities are cut off then you will have a backup to wait in safety until the new provisional Iranian government gets the basic utilities back up and running.

Good luck with that either, US will bankrupt faster than conquer Iran and brake Iranians spirit.

.
Legality?
Did somebody really bring legality into this? Get your head checked son.

The West can brake every damn international law it wants and nobody can even squeak. You wanna know illegal? Take a look at these insane sanctions.

Iran has every right to make a nuclear weapon, but unfortunately our leadership is not after one; not yet. Let's hope they change their mind.

Iran has no legal right to nuclear weapons. It signed its legal right away for dual use equipment under the npt.

Before Iran had any legal right to pursue nuclear weapons, it would have to leave the npt, and get rid of all dual use equipment it got under the plan and materials+ equipment derived from such. Basically start from scratch.

That is just a hypothetical, in reality if Iran left the npt (we both know they wouldn't give up the dual use equipment) the US would gather up a coalition and come down on them like a ton of bricks whether we got UNSC support or not.

If Iran has no intention to obtain nuclear weapons then their course of action is obvious, and has long been obvious.

If Iran intends to obtain nuclear weapons then I recommend those who live in Iran on this forum start building bomb shelters under their house, store purified water, an electric generator or two, food, etc.

If basic utilities in the cities are cut off then you will have a backup to wait in safety until the new provisional Iranian government gets the basic utilities back up and running.
An American citizen talking about bombing other nations? Why am i not surprised?
1.Iran is not developing nuclear weapons.IAEA admit it,CIA admit it,Mosad admit it,110 countries of NAM support Iran's nuclear program.
2.NPT is not only about not developing nuclear weapons.
The NPT consists of a preamble and eleven articles. Although the concept of "pillars" is not expressed anywhere in the NPT, the treaty is nevertheless sometimes interpreted as a three-pillar system, with an implicit balance among them:
-non-proliferation,
-disarmament, and
-the right to peacefully use nuclear technology.

Is it red enough for you to see it?What U.S has done toward this goal (disarmament)?
Few days ago,Obama said U.S has more nuclear weapons than it really needs.
What the hell does that supposed to mean?He means U.S needs 'enough number' of nuclear weapons?
Not only has U.S done nothing towards disarmament,it is also taking Iran's right to develop peaceful nuclear energy. You Americans are the most hypocrite people on earth. You are abusing your power to punish the ones whom you don't like. But don't forget: Power is not a permanent thing.Someday you should give it up.It's inevitable..

i dont understand why some countries can have it some cant? but also i think iran is trying to build one if not they should open everything they got and show to media openely , also its time for us to make some NUKESSS :D come on NUKESSS!!! PAKISTAN WE NEED YOUR HELP LETS MAKE SOME QUICK NUKES 100 ENOUGH FOR NOW :D im serious we should build some aswell for detterence if we want to be a world power

I'm really sick of telling this again but for the 10 millionth time:

Iran has opened 'all' of its nuclear facilities to IAEA inspectors,Iran is the most inspected member of IAEA and NPT.
I really don't know what part of the word "All" you people don't understand.

well we knew you American only can go after cities and children in kindergartens really there is no need to tell us that again .

by the way what dual use technology we got under the guise of NPT all we have is made in Iran have you forgot USA make new sanctions against Iran on daily bases . and also can you prove that Iran making Nukes ?

and whats that course of action ? if you mean to accept enrichment outside Iran I suggest go read about the history of Bushehr nuclear planet and see how many time Iran paid to west to build that plane and they didn't honored their contracts also go and look at Eurodif and see which countries are share holders and you will understand why Iran won't accept enrichment outside Iran . also you can go and check to see that Iran is also a shareholder in the second largest uranium mine in the world and still you stole our property there .

Clinton is saying that iran must send its Uranium outside Iran and they give us fuel, sorry its late for this you must have agreed with this deal two years ago when we said we send the uranium to turkey and you send the fuel there then turkey government give us the fuel rods and give you the uranium but you were too high on your dreams to see reason but now we are producing those rods why we trust you whats the guaranty you don't just send us faulty rods that endanger all Tehran population ? after all you yourself said that you are going to attack cities and civilians .

which nuclear facility in Iran is closed to IAEA inspectors ? to be honest I can't find any.

The thing is, we have. We've been visited more times by the International Atomic Agency than most countries COMBINED. When the Western media collectively tries to bombard the world with false information, the end result is you.

There is nothing Iran can do. Their objective is to return Iran to the pre-79 era (i.e. have a pro Western monarchy/dictatorship/regime). The nuke issue is a perfect excuse. If we didnt have this, they would pick on something else like they did with Saddam's Iraq before invading.

Good luck with that either, US will bankrupt faster than conquer Iran and brake Iranians spirit.

Iran has no moral right for it either, it would use the security of nuclear weapons to kill Israeli women and children through Hamas, moral right is gone.

The obvious option has been to take the western deal of opening every facility the IAEA wants to inspect, and take the deal of trading its enriched uranium to the west for reactor fuel. This would set Western fears at ease, open the door for lucrative trading, and Iran would still have a nuclear power program operating.

IAEA never 'admitted it', they just said they havn't found overt evidence, but still hold strong suspicions because Iran hasn't allowed them to inspect where they wanted to inspect.

The US has come a long way from the amount of nukes we had during the cold war, our commitment to disarmament is unquestionable considering the contrast between then and today.

Of course Iran gaining nukes would destroy all the honest effort that has gone into disarmament.

If you are not talking about legality, then by what right are you talking about?

the morality of using a nuclear umbrella as cover to supply terrorists to kill Israeli women and children?

right of might? The US could send Iran to the stone age.

right of deceit? Iran might be able to take this right depending on the flow of US politics, but I wouldn't count on it as of today.

IF your military didn't put anti air defence next to kindergartens and make intelligence relays of high school gyms we wouldn't have this problem.

Aside from that it is likely US strikes will take out major utilities as a preventative measure. Water, power, gas. The US will not strike cities when possible, but of course we cannot use kid gloves against Iran, civilians will die as paramilitary takes refuge among them, perhaps many from disease.

Basically what I hear is that you won't except outside enrichment and won't allow unfettered access for the IAEA, your justifications for such are irrelevant to me. Alright, then start building a shelter.

If we don't strike first it will be Israel who does, either way we will get involved in some form or another.

The US stockpiled Nukes and than "signed" the NPT.
Arrogance is the least we can see that is outshining your thinking pattern.

So our military put anti air defense next to kindergartens?
Most of you American warmongers are bunch of over educated morons.
In case of war,If any Iranian civilian dies,Israeli population should and will pay the price for it because of nut jobs running their country.

the morality of using a nuclear umbrella as cover to supply terrorists to kill Israeli women and children?

Seriously? How much Israeli women and children has Hamas killed since 10 years ago?
How much Palestinian children and women has IDF killed since 10 years ago? They just killed 1000 civilians in 22 days.
Just like what Abii said, when they repeat and repeat all the propaganda in your ear,the result will be something like you.

The obvious option has been to take the western deal of opening every facility the IAEA wants to inspect, and take the deal of trading its enriched uranium to the west for reactor fuel. Instead of watching too much Fox News, get a life and educate yourself a little more.
ALL of Iran's nuclear facilities are inspected 24/7.I know it's hard for you to get it.

It is no more the cowboy and the Indian Era;

US Wargame Sees Perils of Israeli Strike Against Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- A classified war simulation held this month to assess the repercussions of an Israeli attack on Iran forecasts that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave Americans' dead bodies all over the region, according to the US officials.

The officials said the so-called wargame was not designed as a rehearsal for American military action - and they emphasized that the exercise's results were not the only possible outcome of a real-world conflict.

But the game has raised fears among top American planners that it may be impossible to preclude American involvement in any escalating confrontation with Iran, the officials said. In the debate among policy makers over the consequences of any Israeli attack, that reaction may give stronger voice to those in the White House, Pentagon and intelligence community who have warned that a strike could prove perilous for the United States.

The results of the wargame were particularly troubling to Gen. James N. Mattis, who commands all American forces in the Middle East, Persian Gulf and Southwest Asia, according to officials who either participated in the Central Command exercise or who were briefed on the results and spoke on condition of anonymity because of its classified nature. When the exercise had concluded earlier this month, according to the officials, General Mattis told aides that an Israeli first strike would be likely to have dire consequences across the region and for United States forces there.

The two-week wargame, called Internal Look, played out a narrative in which the United States found it was pulled into the conflict after Iranian missiles struck a Navy warship in the Persian Gulf, killing about 200 Americans, according to officials with knowledge of the exercise. The United States then retaliated by carrying out its own strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The initial Israeli attack was assessed to have set back the Iranian nuclear program by roughly a year, and the subsequent American strikes did not slow the Iranian nuclear program by more than an additional two years.

The exercise was designed specifically to test internal military communications and coordination among battle staffs in the Pentagon; in Tampa, Fla., where the headquarters of the Central Command is located; and in the Persian Gulf in the aftermath of an Israeli strike. But the exercise was written to assess a pressing, potential, real-world situation.

In the end, the wargame reinforced to military officials the unpredictable and uncontrollable nature of a strike by Israel, and a counterstrike by Iran, the officials said.

American and Israeli intelligence services broadly agree on the progress Iran has made to enrich uranium.

Israel and its close ally the United States accuse Iran of seeking a nuclear weapon, while they have never presented any corroborative document to substantiate their allegations. Both Washington and Tel Aviv possess advanced weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear warheads.

Iran vehemently denies the charges, insisting that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Intensified threats by Tel Aviv and Washington of military action against Iran contradict a recent report by 16 US intelligence bodies which endorsed the civilian nature of Iran's nuclear plans and activities.

Following the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) and similar reports by the former IAEA head, Mohamed ElBaradei - including a report in November 2007 and the other one in February 2008 - which praised Iran's truthfulness about key aspects of its past nuclear activities and announced settlement of outstanding issues with Tehran, US and Israeli efforts to impose further sanctions or launch military attack on Iran seemed to be completely irrational and lost international support, even in the West.

Yet, American officials see an Israeli attack on Iran within the next year as a possibility. They have said privately that they believe that Israel would probably give the United States little or no warning should Israeli officials make the decision to strike Iranian nuclear sites.

Iran has warned that it would target Israel and its worldwide interests in case it comes under attack by the Tel Aviv.

The United States has always stressed that military action is a main option for the White House to deter Iran's progress in the field of nuclear technology.

Iran has warned that in case of an attack by either the US or Israel, it will target 32 American bases in the Middle East and close the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

An estimated 40 percent of the world's oil supply passes through the waterway.

US officials said that, under the chain of events in the wargame, Iran believed that Israel and the United States were partners in any strike against Iranian nuclear sites and therefore considered American military forces in the Persian Gulf as complicit in the attack. Iranian jets chased Israeli warplanes after the attack, and Iranians launched missiles at an American warship in the Persian Gulf, viewed as an act of war that allowed an American retaliation.

Internal Look has long been one of Central Command's most significant planning exercises, and is carried out about twice a year to assess how the headquarters, its staff and command posts in the region would respond to various real-world situations.

Over the years, it has been used to prepare for various wars in the Middle East. According to the defense Web site GlobalSecurity.org, military planners during the cold war used Internal Look to prepare for a move by the Soviet Union to seize Iranian oil fields. The American war plan at the time called for the Pentagon to march nearly six Army divisions North from the Persian Gulf to the Zagros Mountains of Iran to blunt a Soviet attack.

In December 2002, Gen. Tommy R. Franks, who was the top officer at Central Command, used Internal Look to test the readiness of his units for the coming invasion of Iraq.

Yet, the analysis of military specialists in the United States and Israel who have assessed the potential ramifications of an Israeli attack includes the broad caveat that it is impossible to know the internal thinking of the senior Iranian leadership, and is informed by the awareness that even the most detailed wargames cannot predict how nations and their leaders will react in the heat of conflict.

Yet these specialists continue their work, saying that any insight on how the Iranians will react to an attack will help determine whether the Israelis carry out a strike - and what the American position will be if they do.

All in all, the widespread assumption is that a military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities would set off a catastrophic set of events like a regional conflagration, widespread martyrdom-seeking operations against Israel and the US and their global interests and sky-high oil prices.

Boring!!
We heard this a million times. The attack is eminent!, Iran be careful!.
NO one is going to attack Iran.
If Israel was so concerned about Iran nuclear program it would have launched an airstrike a long time ago, without declaring every other day that they are about to strike!!
Why would they give the Iranians so much time to prepare?
Just like Iraq and Syria, in and out without nonsense.
But of course they prefer the Iranians to not have nukes, not because they think Iran will use them, but to prevent a nuclear weapon race in ME(KSA Egypt, Turkey..).
That's why I want Iran to have nukes.
