He is from gorkha rifles. This is their attire. Pakistanis should remember them from 1965 and then 71 again.

There is a tradition behind him wearing the hat in this way. He (General Suhag) comes from 4/5 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army. I don't know how far it is true but on the Indian Army page I read a comment and some person mentioned there that Gorkhas were very talkative, so British in order to bring discipline in the unit made this kind of hat. And later this hat became the identity of the Gorkhas.

Another theory explains the reason that Gorkhas were very talkative. So, this strap makes it -difficult to talk since it is right under the lips which continuously pull it up. The strap on the lips doesn’t let you talk or eat much. Even during war, the Gurkha men screamed and charged into battle and this alerted the enemies. The Gurkha regiment couldn’t launch surprise attacks due to this character. Despite lot of training, some Gurkha soldiers found it difficult to inhibit this nature. So the commander of a Gurkha regiment instructed soldiers to wear the straps under their chin so they would be reminded not to scream when they get into attack mode. This is continued even now by the 5th Gurkha Rifles. It reminds them to “speak with your actions.” And later this hat became the identity of the Gorkhas.

Why Indian govt is not releasing footage of surgical strikes? My understanding is that the Indian Govt is waiting for General Raheel Sharif to retire in November. If they release the footage now then Mr. sharif will start some operation in India and will seek extension till the operation to seek revenge is over. So Indian govt might be thinking that let Raheel sharif to retire gracefully and after his retirement the next general will take time to settle. So Indian govt might be playing smart in the current situation. Just my thinking. I may be wrong but this might also be logically sound reason to not to release the footage in present circumstances.

it is actually the other way. Indians were probably waiting for the Sheriefs (either or or) to either admit or deny. If they deny then the recording will be released.

Raheel Sherief being coas is good for India as he has been bombing Pakistan non-stop for a couple of years now. So we'd welcome an extension.
