It is not bcoz they are not allowed to it is bcoz they cant, we have seen this so called democracy from 1988 to 1999 & that was the worst time period in the history of Pakistan by the Government choosed by the People & the Era which army was here was the Best Era Either it was 1962-1968, 1978-1988 or 1999-Continue.

It's because Pakistanis rarely behave as the public, but rather are a mob. It's always a wave that sweeps things along.

The only time they chose, Pakistan was split into two. Musharraf was providing this time for growth of the Pakistani people. But the CJ issue disrupted this process and now we are decending instead of ascending.

They did that in 1971 because they knew who was better for whom. The people showed intelligence in voting, but it was the non-elected army which showed its fangs. When you have all the representatives from the public, Yahya should have convened the parliament and let it do its bloody job. He didnt and Pakistan got divided. Why do you blame the public for it? It was the army chief who was the President of Pakistan who failed, not the public.

Now because time has passed, the army has been successful in masquerading and propogating the myth that it was the public voting which divided Pakistan when the army was responsible for it.

You have assuming public to be fools. Infact if I may say so, it is the illiterate people who can better guage what they can get from an election much more than all of us "literate but uneducated". They only require that free and fair elections be conducted.

In case if you have any doubts about my stand: Army's position is in the barracks and its only duty is to be at the call of civilians, NOT as in pakistan.

Oh God /Allah / Ram,

A Hindu to decide the fate again of Pakistan (he did it last time on the CJ issue) ?

That must be very hard for the hardliners to swallow.

Well this is the best example Why a Country is greater than religion. Religion should remain in ones living room and not be the guiding principle of any country. I hope this also answers those who wan't to make Pakistan into an Islamic State and take it back to the 18th Century by crushing the rights of minorities.I hope Pakistan remains and becomes truly secular.

Best Regards

Why cannot a hindu be as much pakistani as any muslim

Why cannot a politician be as patriotic as a military officer.

The times you have mentioned saw growth because of surity of continuation of policies. But unfortunately the military rulers are not trained to cater to the sensitivities of civilians. Those years may have been golden years for Pakistan but the story does not end there. We have to keep in mind the time that followed. Ayub gave us Bangladesh, Zia gave us islamization, extremism and taliban, Mush will leave us with (god forbid) new boundries. Will a civilians ruler be able to bring peace in Baluchistan and Fata? Will a civilian ruler be able to restore rule of law in Karachi and oust MQM? No

Dear Lahori,

My comments are to those who feel you have to be muslim to be a good Pakistani. There have been several threads on that issue. I am all for a strong and secular independant Pakistan. My GP is pakistani and a brilliant man.

Best Regards

Dear Lahori,

Dictators no matter how benevolent or honest like Musharraf will always spell disaster for Pakistan in the long run. You must trust and believe in Democracy and let the Pakistani people decide where they wish to head by casting their votes.

Rana Bhagvandas feels like a push over and over victimizes himself even though no one has really raised a question about his honesty because of his religion till now.

A lot of people see him backing out of Full court hearing (of the CJ's reference) because he was Hindu and didn't want any controversy. I'm not comfortable with a guy who doesn't believe in himself...

I had heard some islamic scholar had filed a case saying Mr Rana could not become Chief Justice as it could be held only by an muslim person ? What happened to that case ?

Don't know about that one... It probably never went to court.

Which Islamic "scholar"?
