Japan is under a moral obligation to return all the materials looted throughout Japan's colonization of the Chinese lands, which include Taiwan. That would indeed be a great show of repentance from past mistakes.

The relic is one of the most valuable that was looted from China by Japan. It is now in the possession of the Japanese imperial palace.
The carving was made in AD 713, around the time that Tang Dynasty began its jurisdiction over Northeast China. It documented the historical process of China’s unification.
The Honglujing Carving Stone is deemed by experts to be of tremendous value to Chinese cultural research.
