ISLAMABAD:
Reiterating its previous recommendation for separate systems of education for men and women, Pakistan’s top religious body has asked the government to abolish the co-education system within the minimum time period.

In its statement issued on Tuesday at the conclusion of its two-day meeting, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), which was formed in 1962 to advise parliament on the compatibility of laws with Sharia, said co-education was neither a requirement of society nor compatible with Islamic principles.

The council said only a limited time — that is necessary for change in syllabus and making of administrative arrangements — could be permitted to bring an end to the co-education system. “The government must establish two women universities as announced by the former president General Ziaul Haq,” it added.

Women not required to cover faces, hands and feet under Sharia: CII

The council also decreed that covering of face, hands or feet is not mandatory for women under Sharia law. However, the council advised women to follow ethics and have a careful attitude in society. It recommended women “cover up their body parts to avoid threats or mischief”. The CII made this judgment in reply to questions posed by the Islamabad-based Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA).

The CII also welcomed a recent Supreme Court judgment that ordered the government to implement Urdu as the official language. The CII also reminded the federal and provincial governments about one of its significant decisions regarding promotion of regional languages.

Abolition of Council of Islamic Ideology sought

“While treating Urdu as the national and official language, the federal government should allow the provincial governments to adopt their languages as official languages. This particular part of the CII recommendations was made to the federal and provincial governments in 1989-99,” it said. The CII said that according to Article 251 (1) of the Constitution, Urdu is the national language and implementation on this constitutional provision is mandatory for the government.

“However, the national language should not allow to be turned as a rival means of communication for the provincial languages at any stage so that opportunity should be given to the provincial languages for their progress and development,” it demanded.

The CII also recommended that students appearing for competitive examinations should also be allowed to answer questions in Urdu.

CII my be right but first build enough separate schools and colleges for boys and girls and then start giving fatwas. Our mullahs are ready to give the society hundreds of illiterate women rather then giving them education in co education system. Separate institutions for male and females are recommended but when you dont have such institutes in number then it is better to educate women in co education system rather then producing illiterate women capable of doing nothing. You will never find such type of mullahs talking against the ills of madrassah education or lal masjid type group of extremists who even supported daish. It was difficult for some of the mullahs to even condemn what happened at the APS peshawer.
@TMA .If you are reading this then these are the mullahs for whom i used the term" half cooked mullahs" not for some highly educated and well versed scholars of islam like shiekh imran

. .
Any resolution to condemn donkey meat sellers? Any suggestions to strictly punish commodity hoarders? Any recommendations and research on alternatives of interest based economy and banking? Any intimation to pious followers who prefer interest based PLS bank accounts? Any observation regarding unjustified cruel taxes? Any fatwa to warn thugs who harass women at work places? Any recommendation how judicial system can be improved? Anything to inform government that giving out interest based loans from Zakat fund is strictly un-Islamic?

But no we should deprive women of the education because we have no fckng separate institutions for them, they should cover their body parts but men with the beards should not mind their gaze in public.

Did hazrat Ayesha (RA) used to teach and advise and instruct Shahabas after the death of Prophet Mohamamd (PBUH) or not ?
First she was mother of believers secondly it used to be massive purdah I mean door made of thick clock between them.

I am a teacher who worked in both Co education schools and only boys schools..believe me the students in only boys or only girls school are more interested and excited about the opposite sex than students in Co education schools..only girls or only boys schools isn't so healthy in terms of child's development.

Their was a study in USA I don't remember exactly which institute conduct it but they present it to those who were asking for that same college for girls only and they replied with their case study and prove it that in segregated environment pupils pay more attention at their studies. And that is in some High School and College which is for Girls only and that is no where but in USA.

I myself had all of my education in Co-education institutions and I am not against Co-education but if segregation impact on performance then I would say yes its better to build separate institutes.

That might be true in the days of no mobile or no internet..today it is entirely different..segregation will be counter productive.
Another thing to note is in Co education schools both girls and boys don't want to be insulted in front of each other by their teachers....
Because of that comparatively they are more disciplined and more attentive to studies.

In an only boys or girls school ,the students are almost uncontrollable.

So thats your own case study ???
I have quoted a Case study from USA a much much more networked saturated society than any other in the world and that case study was from distant past. I will look into it and try to find the script or link. It may be an Year or 2 Old case study.
I am not here to keep my d!ck high but to share. What ever I have quoted is not about my understanding its about a case study. Now if you want to counter it with such and such notions then good for you.
