Differentiate between full-blown war and strikes, missile or air. The latter cannot be used to war on a nation to any conclusion. The best they could be is punitive.

How are the Iranian and Israeli tanks and armor going to go at it? They can't. Neither nation can project significant power short of nuclear attack by Israel.

Neither have a Navy enough to cause significant damage to another shores. At best, The Israelis could repeat Operation Opera!

Assuming they could breach the Iranian Air Defenses with the F-35!

Anyway, an attack can happen upon Iran. I doubt Americans will be pleased with that considering tens of thousands of American soldiers are in Iran's vicinity and the body bag counts of the GI's will be significant. All the cheer leaders of Netanyahu on American Congress will have to 'explain' to their constituents as to why these bodies are streaming in from the Middle East.

I`m no expert but i`d imagine the war would be, if there will be one, against Hamas and Hezbollah. Destroying Iran`s nuclear facilities in a surprise attack and then dealing with the rockets fired by Iran`s proxies.
You can`t fight a war with a country that is thousand miles apart, only cause massive casualties by long range missiles and Air force jets, unless you are a superpower like the US.

Iran's proxies Hizbollah shut down the northern 3rd of Israel in 2006 for weeks and yet not a single bullet was fired upon Iran. Why is that? Because, next time, the whole of Israel can be shut down for weeks with barrages of rockets and missiles destroying infrastructure. Yes, Iran will pay a price but short of nuking them I don't see them 'losing' the war.

PS. Much has been said about the gallantry of Israelis. Truth is not that supportive. Read mearsheimer and walt's 'The Israel Lobby' to see a different picture. According to them Israelis always, even in 1948, had better equipped military who scored easy victories over largely Bedouin militaries. I would respect Israelis when they can take on countries like Turkey or Iran or Pakistan (not that I want that to happen).

The guy was in the CIA what, almost a decade ago? From where and who he's getting his info from? Today, he makes a living as a writer. This is just a publicity stunt to get his name out there. Next year he will make another prediction.

P.S. Israel needs its entire airforce to even do a fly by. I'm talking hundreds of jets. At least half have to be support jets. This is beyond impossible.

I certainly hope that the USA does everything in its power to prevent an Israeli attack on Iran, including "leaking" details of any preparations the USA spots via its surveillance systems. I also hope the USA would take any evidence of Israeli preparations for a strike against Iran to the UN Security Council for maximum worldwide pressure on Israel not to do it. The only way to make the world safer from Iran is to encourage a non-theocratic, democratic system in Iran. All of US and Israeli energy should be directed at weakening the Mullah Regime, not striking against Iranian facilities.

I agree with the first part truthseeker. But there should be a policy of non interference in other countries internal affairs in my opinion. Thats why for so long iranisans hate americans because of the support that america gave previously to the shah of iran
