ISLAMABAD: Rick Waters, the Political Counselor at the US Embassy in Islamabad held a meeting with senior Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi during which issues related to PTI-led protests against drone strikes and blockade of Nato supplies were discussed, DawnNews reported.

Topic discussed during the meeting, which was held at the Parliament Lodges in the federal capital city, included the overall political issues of the country, PTI protests against drone strikes in Pakistan and the blockade of Nato supplies via Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, the PTI-led protests, blocking Nato supplies through KP, against US drone strikes on Pakistani territory entered its sixth day.

All containers passing through Peshawar's Ring Road were undergoing searches by activists of the PTI and its allies in the coalition government of KP. Moreover the activists were also accompanied by the parliamentarians belonging to the parties demonstrating against the drone attacks.

The protesters shouted anti-drone slogans.

So far, 11 Nato trucks have been returned whereas the rest of the trucks were allowed to continue their travel after verification of documents and cargo.

The political administration had made strict security measures on the occasion.

The protest began two days after a rare US drone strike was conducted outside of Pakistan’s remote tribal region killing six people, including senior commanders of the Haqqani network, at a seminary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district.

^ This, but funnily enough most states reserve the right to revoke Diplomatic immunity, but Pakistan doesn't? :(
Beggars are not the choosers, Pakistan has to throw away begging bowl to reach the stature. No doubt, it will hit us bad economically, so what only the rich class will have to sacrifice their lifestyles. Common man is already under so much of burdens that it wont hit them as hard. We should be ready for the said sacrifice, believe me it is matter of 2 years world will bow and green passport will regain its honour. We need leaders not managers, especially the present managers (all no exception) of political arena.

Okay now on to the issue of Foreign security companies in Pakistan:

Since 2001 Pakistan has been a profitable country for PSC and Logistics companies, with the private security industry valued at around $60 Million US, that is one big pie. Following the controversial arrest and detention of a US contractor in Lahore, the establishment has made life hell for expatriate security contractors and foreign security companies operating in the country.

At it's peak in 2008, Islamabad was host to a who's who of the industry. However following the arrest of armed US contractors in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, the government propose the Foreign Security Agencies Act, along with greater scrutiny of foreign PSCs in the country:

This subsequently led to heads rolling and the first on the chopping block was a Pakistan outfit InterRisk which closely followed by a major player Pax Mondial. After several complaints lodged by the security services, Paxmondial's Pakistan office was forcibly closed at the hands of the Securities & Exchange Commission:

Not soon after the closure of Pax Mondial's Pakistan Office, several larger companies decided to pack up and leave due to the hostile posture adopted by the state intelligence apparatus and rigid corporate regulations:

Since then G4S has decided to sell off its Pakistani operations to it's partner Pakistani partner Wackenhut Pvt Limited.

At present the only three FSA's operating in Pakistan under permit are:
  • Dynacorp ( State Department & Government of Pakistan Contracts)
  • Catalyst Services LLC ( Providing construction and Life Support Services to the US diplomatic mission in Pakistan).
  • KSI Sallyport LL

So the question is.....Kis, kis ko pakro gay?

19 FC men told to appear before police - DAWN.COM

KARACHI, Nov 29: Nineteen personnel of a law-enforcement agency who had allegedly taken away 35 detainees were directed by the Supreme Court on Friday to appear before the Balochistan police authorities investigating their disappearance.

A four-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry hearing the cases of the missing persons at the Karachi registry of the court expressed annoyance over the absence of the inspector general of Frontier Corps Balochistan who had been ordered to appear before the court.

Attorney General Munir A. Malik said the FC chief did not appear because he could not be informed about the court order.

But the chief justice remarked that he had been deliberately avoiding the proceedings because there was credible evidence to establish that the FC personnel were involved in the enforced disappearances.

The court recalled that despite repeated orders, responsible FC officials, including Brig Aurangzeb, Col Naeem and Major Tahir, had not appeared before it.

The chief justice said that a judicial inquiry in a missing person case concluded that FC personnel had picked up Abdul Malik.

“Don’t try to hush up the matter. Those involved will have to be produced for investigation into the matter,” he snapped when the attorney general said the officers named had been repatriated to the army.

The chief justice asked the AG who should be issued contempt notice for not complying with the court’s orders.

The court directed the authorities to ensure the presence of all nominated FC personnel before the DIG of Special Branch, Balochistan, on Sunday for interrogation.

It also directed the Sindh police chief to provide security to the families and relatives of missing persons who had marched to Karachi from Quetta.

The hearing was adjourned to Dec 3.
