CIA gets nod to step up drone strikes in Pakistan

But why are we discussing all this...hypothetical scenario...US has no intentions of carrying out a full fledged attack.

Agreed I think it is unlikely that America would take such a drastic action. But there has to be a limit to these drone attacks. To be honest I am unsure as to if Americans do not have some accord on these drone atttacks

There has to be some kind of tacit approval from some Pakistani Authorities - not to forget the drones are pretty effective - Llibi was a high value target, no way you can convince the US to stop or reduce attacks after that kill.

They should employ a drone over there own prisons from where he escaped after pakistani forces captured him and handed him over to US......

LOL, they should have indeed.. pretty disheartening to let something like that happen , but they ensured they got their man in the end same with OBL, Saddam, Gaddhafi etc. Al zawahari is a juicy target, the Americans must be gunning for him at present.

No role in 9/11 attacks: Taliban
Published: September 12, 2011
TheNation Monitoring
WASHINGTON - The Taliban have said that their movement had no role in the 9/11 terror attacks and accused the United States of using the incident to invade Afghanistan where they have killed tens of thousands of innocent Afghans, reports USA Today on Sunday.
In a defiant statement emailed to media, the Taliban accused the US of using the Sept 11 attacks as a pretext to invade Afghanistan. It said the international community was responsible for killing thousands of Afghans during the invasion and ensuing occupation of the country. “Each year, 9/11 reminds the Afghans of an event in which they had no role whatsoever,” the Taliban said. “American colonialism has shed the blood of tens of thousands of miserable and innocent Afghans.”
The Taliban’s statement says the Afghan people have “an endless stamina for a long war” and could rise up as a nation “to send the Americans to the dustbin of history.”
“It will remain a permanent stigma on the face of the Western democracy that America and her allies martyred tens of thousands of Muslims under the pretext of this ambiguous and murky event,” the statement says, referring to 9/11.
Meanwhile, the Taliban government in Afghanistan offered to present Osama bin Laden for a trial long before the 9/11 attacks, but the US government showed no interest, Al Jazeera-TV reported on Sunday, quoting a senior aide to Taliban leader Mullah Omar. In an exclusive interview, Wakil Ahmad Muttawakil, Taliban’s last foreign minister, told Al Jazeera that the Taliban government, which then controlled Afghanistan, made several proposals to the United States to present the Al-Qaeda leader for trial for his involvement in plots targeting US facilities during the 1990s.
“Even before the [9/11] attacks, our Islamic Emirate had tried - through various proposals - to resolve the Osama issue. One such proposal was to set up a three-nation court, or something under the supervision of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference,” Muttawakil said. “But the US showed no interest in it. They kept demanding we hand him over, but we had no relations with the US, no agreement of any sort.
They did not recognise our govt.”
There was no independent confirmation of Muttawakil’s claims. The Taliban considered the OIC, a Saudi Arabia-based organisation representing 56 Muslim nations, a ‘neutral international organization’, he said.Al Jazeera says it contacted the OIC regarding the claims, but that nobody was available for comment.
The US had no direct diplomatic relations with the Taliban, which controlled most of Afghanistan between 1996 and 2001. But, Muttawakil said, the Taliban’s proposals were relayed indirectly to Washington through such channels as the American embassy in Pakistan or the informal Taliban office for the UN in New York.

LOL Man

Did you even read my post.

Osama denied 9/11 initially to make it look like US was bombing Afghanistan for no reason so that he could rally fighters to Afghanistan in a same way what happened to the Russians. Its only in 2004 that he acknowledged that he is responsible for 9/11.

How come Llibi stayed back in Pakistan after escaping from prison??

.
Uncle Sam would never change even after what happened to them in Vietnam and now Afghanistan. Yea Musharraf saved millions by presenting his a$$ to united states of a$$ holes. Hypocrites.

.
So the scenario would be.....

America attacks Pakistan.........Pakistan Nukes India.......America laughs at Pakistan........India Nukes Pakistan......

And the outcome would be.....

Pakistan's game is over(just like America wanted)....India is devastated(just like China dreamt)....

CRAZY Pakistanis.......there are so many allies of America......why do you pick on India.......
America won't give a rats *** if India is nuked, instead it will be happy knowing that now India will do the job.....
The way I see if if we're going to go down, we might as well take down others with us - and what better way then to take down allies of US. After all, who's the one to strike first blood? America obviously.
if America attacks or invades Pakistan, there has to be a response.
Since our nukes can't reach America, they have to reach somewhere.
what do you think, we're going to go down alone?
We're going to do just as much damage as US will do to us, to whoever is allied with them, and is in close proximity to us.
America will need all the help they can get, it seems on their own they weren't successful in Afghanistan so it's not weird to claim their military allies will play a role as well.
All in All, attacking or invading Pakistan would not be a smart decision for America.
Pakistan does not wish to issue threats to anyone, nor India, Israel or America. We just want to keep peaceful ties but if someone attacks us, we can't just stand there trembling alone.

conclusion is - Don't attack Pakistan and we won't attack anyone. Simple as that.

America won't invade Pakistan.

But it can send its B-52 Bombers to carpet bomb the entire North Waziristan Area.

You are the perfect personification of the reason why USA is going to take away your nukes... :)

would you like us to ship the nukes? Please give me the address? Shall we send them to the White House?

After all if we're going down anyways, we might as well take down others with us - what better way but to take down our neighbors who are not only allies to the US but also working ever so hard to destabilize Pakistan. :victory:

America won't invade Pakistan.

America can send bombers to Islamabad if they wish.

Don't live in the fantasy world like our politicians.

I believe drone strikes are rather to weak I would prefer using Vietnam war Tactics such as using the B-52 or the B-1 and cleaning our those area's, pakistan will do noting.

haha you think Americans going to attack Pakistan alone. They are obviously going to seek help from India, the closest country to Pakistan. I'm sure you Indians will get dozens of wet dreams and immediately provide landing of American forces at your air bases when you get the notice that America is launching an attack on Pakistan. :pop: What better way than to attack from Indian border? :moil: You better hope you live on the far east side of India when Pakistan sends a response. :flame:

.
I beleive this is a win win for Civillian Gov of Pakistan:

1- Although GoP donot admit, but definitely drone strike eliminates the terrorist elements but also creates collateral damage.
2- By not allowing transit PPP is creating a sense of win in front of Pakistan public that it is patriotic and Brave gov..

It s a win win scenario for Pakistan...Now i am really wondering, how come USA did not predict it and expected from Pakistan previously????....
