I remember that a few months ago, some Turkish members claimed that the Turkish deep state exists no more. As we can see, it's still alive and kicking. The problem is, neither Erdogan nor the deep state have democracy in mind. It's up to the Turks what they really want - a secular or a Islamist Turkey.

Secular is not the synonym of democracy nor is Islam the antonym of democracy, first get that in your head.

Turkey is a secular country, defined by laws which can't be changed. AKP is in the power since 2002....and since 2002 we hear that "AKP is going to bring sharia to Turkey"....he himself defended secularism on many occasions. Living in the capital of Turkey my life style and rights have not changed since 2002....so ?


The deep state "Gladio"....is no more. This is a whole different thing...we call it parallel state formation.

And why do you guys care about it so much? It's Turks's country after all and not yours so Turks will be the one to suffer from that if Erdo is crowned as a Sultan, Khalif, Dictator etc and not you, so why do you care?

Do you think any Turk cares about what happens in India, or who governs you etc.? The answer is No...

Btw, you are mistaken if you think ideology within countries don't affect global outcomes. It is all intertwined, and Turkey has already shown that their islamist lean affects how they interact with other countries.

Thanks. Please keep in mind that there are many Pakistani-Americans living in this country. And many good people in general.

Secondly, the U.S. by and large supports Turkey. It's the only stable country in the Middle East where the conflict is worse than ever before. And a democracy at that. They are NATO allies anyway.

I think it is irrelevant whether Turkey is Islamist or secular. The US deep state hates secular Baathist Saddam and Assad, secular military juntas in Egypt, and previously Pakistan. The US also hates Islamists Republics like Iran. It is more about hating powerful, independent, especially male dictators that Intelligence can't control. It is the reason why US deep state loves putting homosexuals and pedophiles in power, they are easier to control.

Sisi and asshead in Syria are the symbols of suckularism and there are many more like them in the Muslim world. So, I take it that suckularism is the antonym of democracy, fascism is the synonym of it.
