Those are very commonly alleged and different from this case. Christie Fair exposed the fraud that Pak military was perpetrating, thus driving a definite nail into its coffin - any doubts we had about the double game was allayed and that started the downfall of support to Pakistan. Both sides can go on for days criticizing each other but the root of the problem is that US never treated Pakistan as an ally in the same sense it treats Britain/France/Germany etc. It was rather a common interest thing. As for the overlooking of nuclear program it was only temporary. It was followed by the Pressler sanctions. So u can see why Pakistan would treat US in a monetary fashion and US uses Pakistan to secure its interests(that it paid for). The whole relationship is built on a sort of business transaction thing. Until this is addressed and there is an actual relationship like the one that exists between actual allies, this phenomenon would persist.

You need to read my post properly before responding. The Taliban did collapse in 2001, however, in the current time period they control 40% of the country. They look far more dangerous because the Dari speaking community are joining their forces, whereas before their units were comprised of just Pashtun fighters. So your policy in Afghanistan after spending hundreds of billions of dollars is all for naught because they are coming back to power, whether you like it or not. Afghanistan will be stable however, it will be shaped by Pakistan's vision not your's.
