That’s actually true. Many of them are very odd and actually vote for the BJP in large numbers, I believe someone put the data up. But there are many who knew about this threat from the start.
The ones who didn’t should read the mass emails sent by the Sanghis which say “anyone who has their holy site not in India will be wiped from this land”.

Now the usual excuse would be that statue was illegally built over some Hindu temple that was here some 5000 years ago and the source of this info must be some unknown guy and his book without any archeological proof whatsoever.

Uppercaste Hindu can live peacefully, study and work in Christian countries. But, upper caste hindu don't let Christians and other minorities live peacefully in India. Christians are targeted by upper caste, because those converting are mostly OBC SC ST. to get equality. They fear that if all lower caste convert to egalitarian religions like Christianity and Islam, it would make them more assertive and lead to revolution.

Ambala, Haryana:
A statue of Jesus Christ was vandalised at a Church in Haryana's Ambala this afternoon. Police are analysing CCTV footage but haven't yet been able to identify the criminals.

"Two men jumped the boundary wall at 12:30 pm and vandalised a Jesus Christ's statue at around 1:40 pm. They haven't been identified yet, police teams have been assigned to investigate it. A complaint is being lodged and action will be taken accordingly," Naresh, Station House Officer of Sadar police station said.

India has seen a rise in cases of violence against religious minorities recently. Churches have been attacked and Christmas celebrations disrupted in many places. Karnataka recently passed an anti-conversion bill after accusations from the ruling BJP that Churches are trying to forcibly convert people into Christianity. A Christmas carnival was disrupted at a Haryana private school by a right-wing mob on Thursday

The US evangelicals who have a very strong and large voting block, and vote overwhelmingly republican, and strongly advocate for Christian religious freedoms worldwide have generally overlooked such hindutva outrages against the Indian Christans, knowingly or not is another discussion.

The US news media would have called for obliterating the persecutors of christians, but only if they were designated as the opponents whose software needed upgrades. The hindutva fascists are currently being coddled to challenge the China by the US establishment, thus they are forgiven all sins, even pogroms against the Indian christians. Ironic considering the persecution of Chinese Muslims seems to dominate the discourse in DC, and forms the backbone of the new US policies to contain China. There is about 28 percent at least from India's population which is middle class - the so-called urban and educated - and unfortunately a lot of this number in case of Hindus and Muslims are directly right-wing, whether Hindutvadi or Tabligh Jamaati, or support those movements.
