Some Russian soldiers are quitting the army because of the conflict in Ukraine, several soldiers and human rights activists have told Reuters. Their accounts call into question the Kremlin's continued assertions that no Russian soldiers have been sent to Ukraine, and that any Russians fighting alongside rebels there are volunteers.''Evidence for Russians fighting in Ukraine – Russian army equipment found in the country, testimony from soldiers' families and from Ukrainians who say they were captured by Russian paratroopers – is abundant. Associates of Boris Nemtsov, a prominent Kremlin critic killed in February, will soon publish a report which they say will contain new evidence of the Russian military presence in Ukraine.

Until now, however, it has been extremely rare to find Russian soldiers who have fought there and are willing to talk. It is even rarer to find soldiers who have quit the army. Five soldiers who recently quit, including two who said they left rather than serve in Ukraine, have told Reuters of their experiences.

One of the five, from Moscow, said he was sent on exercises in southern Russia last year but ended up going into Ukraine in an armored convoy.

"After we crossed the border, a lieutenant colonel said we could be sent to jail if we didn't fulfil orders. Some soldiers refused to stay there," said the soldier, who served with the elite Russian Kantemirovskaya tank division. He gave Reuters his full name but spoke on condition of anonymity, saying he feared reprisals.

He said he knew two soldiers who refused to stay. "They were taken somewhere. The lieutenant colonel said criminal cases were opened against them but in reality – we called them afterwards – they were at home. They just quit."

Occupation has to stop.

100 years from now, Russia would still the most powerful country in the world. :p: And Turkey would still be a small country. Germany wasn't beaten by sanctions.
Actually they are holding off the sanctions. If Russia continues their aggression they will increase the sanctions which will brake Russia's back Soviet style. Russia won't like this, neither would Europe but at the end it is up to Russia.

Honestly, we don't give a D about sanctions. We have food, we have water, we have electricity. we have oil, we have coal, we have iron ore, we have forests, we have houses, we have allies. If you are man enough, come fight us like you did in the Crimean War. :p:

Crimean War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We learned our lesson. We will never split Russia up into autonomous republics ever again. No autonomous republics, we will never break up like the USSR did.

@Superboy You're sitting pretty in Canada according to the flags displayed in your profile and you are addressing @atatwolf like you live a block over from the Kremlin. Either you're trolling him or are delusional?

I'm not Russian. I'm Chinese Canadian. Russians are white Chinese. :enjoy:

LoL, so you were in fact trolling that Turkish guy. Russia is a sad joke ruled by oligarchs and Putin's close group of friends.

How old are you? 10? Just because someone's profile flags are Chinese doesn't mean he is Chinese, he could just be residing there. And even if he is Chinese, doesn't mean every Pakistani has to agree with what he thinks or vice versa.

If you troll any further, I will be reporting your posts to the Mods.
please, go right ahead and report me right now.

@Beidou2020 is a known Chinese troll, you should see some of how he trolls India LOL

not surprised to see his comments here have been deleted, as they are on a lot of threads where he posts.

as for the OP:
Occupation has to stop.
I agree.. Kiev's US backed illegitimate government's illegal occupation of Novorossiya must stop.

BS. Russia is one of the most technologically advanced states on the planet, on par with the US. PAK FA, Armata, Yasen ring a bell? :enjoy:

That's all military. Even then Russia is just not capable of launching military operations like the Americans did in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. The Russian invasions of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine are very limited in nature. How many Armata, PAK FA, etc do the Russians have? People who live in the real world know that Russia is NOT on par with America technologically or economically.

Yasen is operational, the most automated nuclear sub in the world. Armata is in serial production and delivered to operational units. PAK FA goes into serial production next year. Hurrah!

@Beidou2020 was just reported by me and then his posts got taken care of my Mods..

Kiev's current government is a democratically election government reflecting the will of the people. The proof is former Ukrainian president ran off to hide in Moscow, he ran back to his masters. And now since Russia couldn't find enough Ukrainians who would rise up against the so-called 'American backed fascist government', Moscow sent thousands of its own soldiers into Ukraine after ordering them to rip off their uniform insignia and equipment identifiers so Moscow could lie to the world 'oh those are volunteers' - really? Who controls your borders Moscow?

How many? Do tell us since you seem to be posing here as some type of military analyst.

Yanukovych is the legitimate president of Ukraine. He was never impeached and never resigned. Ukraine cannot have an election when it already has a president. :enjoy:

That's RIGHT pal. This is how we punish an undemocratic coup. Look what Saudi Arabia does to Yemen. This is how we punish. You got a problem with that, pal? o_O

Reuters, lol. They are publishing a lot of nonsense. Russian army is barely involved. Majority of the fighting is being led by Cossack volunteers from the Kubans with the help of the Russian orthodox church providing massive amounts of aid and old weapons T-55's and old junk . Rather the russian govt is being severely indecisive on the donbass and has betrayed our Don Cossack brothers and has tried to stem the arms flow ,but of no avail as Putin knows that if he betrays us his votebank is finished. But Russian orthodox church ,always there to help and that is why the kiev junta has suffered several defeats till now.

I thank the Russian orthodox church and members of maternal family who volunteered to help the don cossacks in their resistance on the call of the ROC.
