As for market, Asia is the future, with China leading the race. EU is stagnant and economy is barely crawling up. Asia on other hand is growing faster, and is about 47% of word's GDP in terms of PPP. This gap will increase even further in coming decade. Companies will rather favour having connections to Asia if they want to keep their bottomline. Just look at German car manufacturers. if you ask VW to select between Asia and any other block, let me know which one they will select.

India could have endear itself to the west by boycotting the winter games with zero affect as India sent its only one athlete. Why didn’t it? The political boycott is used because western countries do not want to lose chances at winning medals. India had no such concerns because it know it’s not winning any.
