One Indian production that Chinese should be more familiar with is the 2030 superpower video. Actually, more Americans should watch that video to show that Indians want to make white people servants.

I cant comment on whether Chinese are watching Indian serials or not but I seriously doubt Indians know Wuxia. This is the first time I am hearing about it.

There are thousands of Indians on PDF. These are people with internet connction and reasonable grasp of English. It means that they are very well familiar with the culture and programs outside India. I can openly challenge you and @rcrmj to start a poll on PDF among Indians to know what is Wuxia and if any of them have seen it or not

We are very familiar with Jakie Chan and Bruce Lee - propably because they got popular via hollywood.

Wuxia - Never heard of it

Dangal: Aamir Khan in a still from the film

NEW DELHI:
HIGHLIGHTS
  1. Dangal opens to more screens In China than in India
  2. The last Aamir Khan film to release in China was PK
  3. PK was shown there across 4,000 screens last year

China adores Aamir Khan films. So much, that his 2016 blockbuster Dangal is going to open across a breath-taking 9,000 screens this Friday, reports news agency IANS. That's more screens than Dangal showed on in India - and, also, more than the first-of-its-kind 8,000-screen release for Baahubali: The Conclusion last week. IANS quotes Amrita Pandey, Vice President of Dangal's co-producer Disney India, as saying, "Dangal will release in China in 9,000 screens - which is the widest ever release for an Indian film in any territory. We are very excited to release Dangal in China. The film is very special and with a story which has the potential to travel the world and transcend geographies."

The last Aamir Khan film to release in China was PK, which was shown there across 4,000 screens last year and made over Rs. 100 crore.

China's screen count is nearly 40,000 - as opposed to 8,500 in India. Dangal, which opened the Beijing Film Festival this year, will release commercially this week as Shuai Jiao Baba, which translates as 'Let's Wrestle, Dad.' Dangal is the true story of how Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat trained his daughters Geeta and Babita in his sport, defying the patriarchal conventions of his village and society. Aamir Khan, in the lead role, put on an incredible number of kilos to play Mr Phogat as a middle-aged and pot-bellied father. Actresses Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra played Geeta and Babita, TV star Sakshi Tanwar was cast as their mother.

Aamir Khan and director Nitesh Tiwari were in China last month to promote their film.

Dangal released in India on December 23 last year and swiftly replaced PK as India's highest-earning film - it has now been displaced by Baahubali: The Conclusion which only just released last week and has already shattered several existing box office records, many of them set by Dangal.

Wuxia are "Kung fu movies" It was popular in the west a while back but not so much after Hollywood adopted martial art fighting choreography in Hollywood movie fighting scenes and American TV shows.

As I'm in America and I never lived in China. I can't comment on how Chinese people receive Bollywood movies. I wonder if the Chinese versions cut out the singing.

TV shows, especially based on Hindu mythology from India, are becoming popular among Chinese on the internet. Not only that, a lot of young Chinese have volunteered to write subtitles for these shows, helping them further expand their outreach to a larger audience.
New Delhi (Sputnik) — Indian Hindi soap operas such as Naagin, Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, the 2013 series based on Mahabharat and Buddha-Rajaon Ka Raja have become the new rage among Chinese online viewers. In fact, the first four episodes of the second season of Naagin had almost 200,000 views on China’s widely used video-sharing website Bilibili, according to a Global Times report.

Yang Buhui, 29, started her own group last year and works in the gaming industry and is fascinated by Indian mythology and philosophy. Yang loves Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev.

“Indian mythology itself is just fascinating. Its philosophy and worldview, which are very exotic, have been a wonderful new world to me. I love the drama because it's a key to the world of Indian mythology. Besides, the actors and actresses are not only gorgeous, but their acting skills are good,” the Global Times quoted Yang saying.

While the Indian drama shows were aired on state broadcaster CCTV’s entertainment channel, they were less popular over their US, South Korean or Japanese rival TV series. But Indian TV series are gaining popularity over both different contents as well as looks of actors in the series.

The Chinese audience will soon get a taste of Bollywood movies as well with the Aamir Khan-starred Dangal set to be released this Friday across China. The actor was recently in China to promote his movie and received huge response among local fans.

Bollywood and Indian cinema is the country’s biggest soft power and helps in establishing the brand value of India, says a film and TV ad producer from Mumbai.

“If there is one huge soft power India has, it is Bollywood and cinema. We have seen how the IIFA awards have been doing well at different locations abroad. Already Bollywood movies are very popular across South East Asia. Shahrukh Khan is very popular in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other countries. China is the next logical destination,” Anupam Shukla, Director, P & A Media Ventures Private Ltd, told Sputnik.

Haha i lol-ed n realised this article was merely a piece of 'bharati culture is superior' propaganda when i came to the part where it said shah ruk khan (whoever he is) is popular in Singapore.

That title of being 'popular' goes to some south korean star, hong kong actor/actress or taiwanese singer anytime of the day.

Indian entertainment doesn't sell in China and East Asia.
This.

The average singaporean knows way more about hollywood than bollywood.

As a kid, I use to watch a few bollywood movies/dramas on our cable tv which my sri lankan maid would discreetly tune into when she didnt had any chores to do.

I rem the shows were always full of ppl dancing sporadically around/behind trees and it(the endless dancing) bores me do much i would often doze off.
