Chinese troops intrude into Indian territory in Ladakh, erect a tented post

That may be true. But this is mis/interpreted as meekness and cowardice.

yes sir, it's Misinterpreted, many people don't know the situation in LAC,

indo-tibetan border police (ITBP) has asked for a Flag meeting to resolve this. Do remember as long as border disputes are not resolved expect more such news in future.

10 km's inside your territory because of different perception ?

They certainly were not attempting an invasion with a 50 strong patrol.

Yes, different perception because the areas are not demarcated, each side patrols those regions, which both sides claim. They somtimes bump into each other, sometimes cross each other. In the end none of it matters, because the soldiers on either side don't really bear any hostility with each other, and neiither side expects the other side to make any mischief. Small patrol parties can't really do anything to harm the other side. Both sides know that the other side, if it strays into their terrirory, will walk around and then go back home. It is very unlike the Indo-pak border where soldiers are always on high alert.

I am quite sure , they weren't , its just an aggressive endorsement of their territorial claims .

What different perceptions would you be referring to here ? Aren't the borders demarcated and even if they aren't , do not the parties know their lines of control ? Well , only the PLA bumps into your boys quite regularly and its never the other way around , at least I haven't read any news saying the opposite . Really ? You dont have to go that far to appease the Chinese you know . The PLA and IA dont bear any hostility towards each other , is that why they took over Aksai Chin and Demchok because your country adopted " Forward Policy " and support for the Tibet insurgent groups provoking them to attack . Well the affair is only one sided , as far as I have heard , you are free to prove me wrong posting any news article .

In my defence, @Secur derailed the thread by talking about irrelevant things like soldiers and territory. I was only responding to him.

Despite being a senior member , you are actively participating in derailment of thread , posting irrelevant and off topic stuff in here . Is that why the quality of the forum has gone down seeing how you boys ruin threads even in your own dedicated section ? :azn:

There is a reason for that. We have a private media that reports on every single issue, from an actress winking to a politician's cousin's son-in-law sneezing. News doesn't flow out that easily from china. Their media is govt controlled. And their media doesn't report on every irrelevant issue. Both parties often bump into each other, and there is a standard procedure that follows, of a low level meeting.

Aksai chin happened in the 1950s. It wasn't even taken through conflict - they built a road through it, and occupied it, and we did not even notice that for several years. It was that irrelevant for us at that time. Of more significance to your point would have been the border war in 1962. That was the nadir of our relations with them. It has been more than half a century since then. Smaller conflicts also took place in the 80s, in which India did a lot better. But in 1993 we agreed to let bygones be bygones, and to respect the line of actual control. If we or our soldiers actually had any hostile feelings for each other, we wouldn't be doing joint military exercises, would we?

The line of actual control is not really a demarcated boundary, it is not as well established as the boundary between India and pakistan. (Short answer to your question - no, the LoAC is NOT demarcated.) It is basically the limits to which India and China exerted control by 1959. That is the reason for what they call "different perception". Chinese soldiers have strayed at least 500 times since 2010, if our media is to be believed. How many times our own soldiers have strayed will not be found in the news, because Indian newspapers can't waste print space with a news item like that. "A bunch of Indian soldiers strayed across the LoAC yesterday and came back later" will not evoke any emotions in Indian readers. And China does not care to report such trivial "news". If their media was as screechy as ours, you would find those too.

So to your demand for news articles to prove you wrong:
1) Their english media will not report small incidents like these.
2) Our media will not report on our soldiers straying across.

Its sad that some of you guys try to play it off as no big deal. It points to a lack of border security in place in such areas. More importantly, some talk it down by stating its not an invasion but you never truly know what their intent was. It must be a piece of cake to send spies over the border.......

LEH/NEW DELHI: In a deep incursion, Chinese troops have entered the Indian territory in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in eastern Ladakh and erected a tented post, setting the stage for a face-off with Indian troops.

A Platoon-strength contingent of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) came 10 km inside the Indian territory in Burthe in DBO sector, which is at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, on the night of April 15 and established a tented post there, according to highly placed sources, which said that a Chinese Army Platoon usually consists of around 50 men.
