Actually THAAD (endo-atmospheric intercept) is the most difficult and unreliable out of all interception technologies because you cannot lock on to the attacking warhead with an IR sensor like you can with an exo-atmospheric intercept. No nation is anywhere close to a reliable endo-atmospheric interception capability against ICBM or even IRBM / MRBM, which travel at mach 10+.The THAAD system is simply a piece of cake for us, since we have already mastered something much more higher leveled.
Of course, intercepting a normal cruise missile at subsonic speed is doable. Intercepting a mach 2+ SRBM like Scud is a bit flaky but doable -- like patriot 3.
