A little extreme but could be a variety of reasons. Can also be some pressure from the US government to pressure CCP due to the Covid-19 situation. It may not just be MIT in the US for now, can be a lot of other countries that may start taking similar measures.

Such politic-motivated is not good for any science institution. Either the decision is suspended within 1 - 2 year, or MIT will go to a certain and gradual collapse within 10 - 20 years.

We still don't know. Industrial espionage does occur but this can also be due to CCP's alleged concealment of info regarding the COVID-19 virus.

The irony is that if you look at US military service academies, so many of them in growing numbers are Asian Americans.

It's a good thing happen to China. MIT need more Chinese student than China need MIT. Most Chinese student go there just for sake of prestige. But no matter where they go, they will still produced the same result.
