Chinese scientists achieve quantum computational advantage

The PDF Chinese Brigade are as delusional as they come. They get roasted with facts and then cry about it and go off on crazy tangents about race.
Delusional? when I provided the facts? You just ignore it and keep trying to divert the tone?

Go say that to Pan Jianwei he may not have heard of Silicon Photonics he is still using crystals and mirrors :lol:
I don't really want to say you are dumb but you do realize that he is a professor but not a manufacturing provider? your argument is becoming too naive I don't even want to reply. How old are you?

You provided no facts whatsoever. Google has created a fully programmable digitized quantum computer. China has created only a science experiment. I’ll roll with the company that can actually solve real world problems.

When I patiently explained but none goes into your brain. Google literally did one more experiment than Pan after they got the same critics last year. In terms of "fully programmable" and solving "real world problems", it is far from the truth either. that's just one particular problem that carefully chosen to fits their claimed limited programable. In terms of real-world usage, they are basically on the same page. Why don't you ask Google to do a simple algorithm like sort numbers from 1 to 10? very far from using it the "real world" problems.
In terms of the comparison, you didn't set up the rule. I can say both are far from real-world usage and google had a nice try. I can say what I value more Pan did it with much more computation capacity in a method I think would be better for future commercial use.

No, they are not on the same page. Googles quantum computer is programmable, can run multiple algorithms, and solve real world problems as seen with the quantum chemistry algorithm. Chinas photonic circuit is not programmable. Chinas project is a lab experiment, and there's nothing to indicate it has a better future than Googles superconducting circuits. Good luck miniaturizing those crystals and mirrors. :lol:

They basically are sweetheart. Why don't answer my question and just deny it? "run multiple algorithms" like what? except for the second experiment that carefully chosen.
Even your fellow DBC have learned "Silicon Photonics" but you just keep obsessed with mirrors and crystals. In a lab of any university in the US do you manufacture a chip?

Marvell nanofabrication laboratory .. UC Berkeley ..Stanford...etc..etc
Poor Pan Jianwei, perhaps he should move to Berkeley.

Name calling ..how original... :lol:

Chinese scientists achieve quantum computational advantage

HEFEI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A research team including renowned Chinese quantum physicist Pan Jianwei announced Friday a significant computing breakthrough, achieving quantum computational advantage.

The team established a quantum computer prototype, named "Jiuzhang," via which up to 76 photons were detected. The study was published in Science magazine online.

This achievement marks that China has reached the first milestone on the path to full-scale quantum computing -- a quantum computational advantage, also known as "quantum supremacy," which indicates an overwhelming quantum computational speedup.

No traditional computer can perform the same task in a reasonable amount of time, and the speedup is unlikely to be overturned by classical algorithmic or hardware improvements, according to the team.

In the study, Gaussian boson sampling (GBS), a classical simulation algorithm, was used to provide a highly efficient way of demonstrating quantum computational speedup in solving some well-defined tasks.

The average detected photon number by the prototype is 43, while up to 76 output photon-clicks were observed.

Jiuzhang's quantum computing system can implement large-scale GBS 100 trillion times faster than the world's fastest existing supercomputer.

The team also said the new prototype processes 10 billion times faster than the 53-qubit quantum computer developed by Google.

"Quantum computational advantage is like a threshold," said Lu Chaoyang, professor of the University of Science and Technology of China. "It means that, when a new quantum computer prototype's capacity surpasses that of the strongest traditional computer in handling a particular task, it proves that it will possibly make breakthroughs in multiple other areas."

The breakthrough is the result of 20 years of effort by Pan's team, which conquered several major technological stumbling blocks, including a high-quality photon source.

"For example, it is easy for us to have one sip of water each time, but it is difficult to drink just a water molecule each time," Pan said. "A high-quality photon source needs to 'release' just one photon each time, and each photon needs to be exactly the same, which is quite a challenge."

Compared with conventional computers, Jiuzhang is currently just a "champion in one single area," but its super-computing capacity has application potential in areas such as graph theory, machine learning and quantum chemistry, according to the team.

Get your software tools updated and developed to a level, next to none.
Next step should be production of such quantum chips, who are capable of working on room temperatures. That would be awesome.

Google use Cirq programming

Sample code

import cirq

# Pick qubits
qubit0 = cirq.GridQubit(0, 0)
qubit1 = cirq.GridQubit(0, 1)

# Create a circuit
circuit = cirq.Circuit.from_ops(
cirq.H(qubit0),
cirq.CNOT(qubit0, qubit1),
cirq.measure(qubit0, key='m0'),
cirq.measure(qubit1, key='m1')
)

While Pan Jianwei calls upon his beautiful assistance Ms. Chang to move some mirrors around the lab floor.

Bravo, this piece of code is exactly what google's experiment one years ago and got criticized as "The program, which checked the output of a random number generator, was of limited practical value and did not prove that the company’s machine could do anything useful". Do you understand what you posted? That's how they make you believe it is "fully programmable" and so awesome, when actually both can basically do nothing and almost promised like the fusion power generation in "next 50 years"?

err like crystals and mirror? Google would be happy to use them. Did you googled Google's Quantum Computer picture? Should they move to Berkley too? That's why I call your argument naive. You don't really understand what you argue.

Really who mocked the US in this thread - it was the Chinese. There was no reason to drag the US in this thread.
I don't have to do research to call out Chinese BS.

Most times I just ignore it - but you expect me to keep quite when my country is insulted? :lol:
But but but.
Murica so easily insultable.

And fully deserving of all the insults too. :D

I think we stirred a hornets nest, here comes the one dime heroes cheering for Murica. Lol

Quick say we are weak and behind and then their ego will be soothed, most are not even Whites, they are yindoos, they cheer for Murica coz they can't do it themselves. Lo

That DBC is a lady. You might want to go easy on her. She could cry. :lol:

Calm down hero, China is weak and poor and useless, that's just a plastic toy with mirrors, nothing to worry about. It's all fake. Lol.

No worries, I am sure they are NEVER gonna make it programmable, and they have ZERO photonic technology. Yes, it's only gonna be a one off experiment from the creator of the first functional quantum comm satellite and 2000km long quantum comm system. Its just an experiment. Lol

You guys need to stop. It is embarrassing to watch you guys poking others and sometimes be racist to Indians. I just found this website a few days ago but now I feel my time is wasted. In reality, I probably would like to be a friend of DBC than an obvious far-right guy.
