What's new

Chinese Range Rover

take your own advice.

Since you quoted me again, I'll respond. While it is true some companies buy into the country, but Xiaomi didn't, Apple didn't, BMW, Lexus,

China is the number 1 trading nation, we didn't get there by people not buying our stuff, that doesn't mean China is in the upper echelon in terms of goods and services, and neither is India. The fact people buy Tata, doesn't mean anything, other than people buy it.

People buy Lenovo, and Huawei, doesn't mean it's the best there is.

I never said people didn't know Tata made it hidden that it owned Range Rover, but it's British Engineering and life style as the trademark, I'm not dissing the Rover here. I'm simply saying if India pushed it's own brand out the door, it will fail just as miserably as the Chinese brands did before.

As to English PM, he does the same with Chinese businessmen, so what, nobody cares. That's doesn't mean anything other than money is money everywhere.

As it stands, the UK places far more importance on China than India, as does the US. Don't take my word for it, there's US and UK people on this board, they'll tell you.

If you want to know if you got prestige out of it, read any message board in an Indian article for the NYT, or something and you will see what they think of you.

Range Rover in China is popular, but only because it is British.

Again I'm not saying the copy is good, simply, it will evolve into something down the line as so many have done before, maybe not under the same name, but certainly by some of the same people and money.

Xiomi, Lenovo and Huawei didn't start their companies by copying anyone. They tried to develop their own value propositions and that's why they're succsseful. That don't mean you take every junk brand and try to pass it off as 'china progressing'. Garbage is garbage. As for the rest I'm not interested in your jingoistic 'mother china' panegyric. Each country has it's own standing and great companies are respected everywhere. Xiomi and Lenovo became more successful because of the products that created that people consider valueable rather than by blowing the mother china ideology. I can't believe the amount of f**ing insecurity you people have mommy mommy look at NYT, yeaaaahhhhhh look at Global Times, yeeahhh, like some kid in a candy store/
I have no doubts that Land ROver is popular coz it's a 'British' brand in china. Can't expect anything else from people who seem to be steeped in complexes.

How do you think progress can be made?

You don't need to clone the aesthetics appearance of a product for progress.

I'm pretty sure only the external appearance of this Land Wind is identical to the original Land Rover. The engine, suspensions, etc. are most likely different from the original. And if they do managed to clone the engine, chassis, suspensions, etc, the engineers still has the option to change the aesthetic body work to differentiate it from the original.

So this begs the question, why do they need to clone the aesthetic appearance? I'm pretty sure the Chinese engineers are competent enough to come up with their own design.

Your excuse that they need to copy the aesthetic appearance of another product, out of necessity, for progress doesn't make sense.

This is great。Way to go。

Our aim should be to bring down the exorbitant prices commanded by the so-called western brands and make quality goods affordable for the average consumers。 :enjoy:

Well this surely is a good side effect

There'r many successful Chinese brands, also including China auto-maker ... BYD / Chery / Geely had exported cars to the West with cheap price.

I personally welcome JMC's Land Wind E32, not only my hometown auto-maker. If Chinese can't produce a good quality car as good as luxury Ranger Rover, when China auto-maker can surpass the West ? We r not the superman, first follow then surpass that's Made in China.

What about Korean HYUNDAI or KIA ? also developed by copy at the beginning.

Pretty decent looking copies. I like the workmanship and attention to detail. If the engine is good and safety standards are at par, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those Land Wind's! :D

That's not being a hypocrite or a super power, that's being a blatant petty thief. And that's the reason why Chinese will never earn the same respect as Germany or Japan.
open a book dude, the world's best copy cat, Japan, and German? How do you think they started industrialization and their military? Come on.

"Made in" was first used by the British to make sure people know US made is crap and a copy.

Japan in the 60s and 70s was a copy of US, Hyundai copied from the beginning and still a little bit.

China is already earning respect, being the world's largest trade nation and second largest economy will do that to you.

I don't think you are getting the point. First of all, don't look at my Country's flag as I am not comparing "Brand" vale of India and China so most of your analysis is wrong above. Point is straightforward and simple, Will you find it offensive when your hard work is copied without given due credit or not ? If your answer is Yes then we have a discussion here else there is no point of discussion.

And come on, if it would have been a small company copying Mobile or Ipad, your logic can make a little sense but Car? Seriously, It is car? Who would trust about its quality when it is cheap knock off.

It is yes.......I was pretty clear.

Well, again, you don't have any developed neighbours, so I must say being in the hole that is South Asia that is a benefit.

We have HK, Taiwan, Macau, Japan and Korea all around us.

You have no insecurities not because you are better, cause you never seen what progress is. If Pakistan or Bangladesh was Japan and Korea, I doubt you still sing the same tone.

As to the rest, you don't even know how Xiaomi came to be, so don't come here with your uninformed theories.

again land wind is a start. Xiaomi can have today, because others used their hard earned money from less glamorous places.

Even the Kennedies had their start in some shady business. Consider our generation and the one before it the stepping stone for the next generation.

You can already see the progress.

Oh we are not insecure because we are not fed a perpetual diet of how thw whole world is out to screw mother china. We are not insecure because we don't think ourselves inferiror coz we are not as rich as hong kong, which also lets us view our neighbors in the 'hell hole' with more dignity. We don't have to live by the philosophy that every little fart has to be an applause in favor of mother china.
