Chinese premier’s official visit to India is for business deals, nothing else. We can be business partners, keeping our differences intact. We are not enemies of each other also we are not friends. Doesn’t mean only two relations exist between nations. We want kind of similar relationship like China-US. Let Pakistan be friends of China. We are happy till we do good business with China, which will be beneficial to both the nations. We should be one of the main business partners of China. Other things will follow.

India aims to double trade with China in 4 years

The Indian government is striving to double bilateral trade with China, its largest trading partner, within four years, Subas Pani, secretary in the planning commission and chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organization, said here Wednesday.
"It's an ambitious goal. But it's possible with the rapidly growing momentum," Pani told Xinhua in an exclusive interview.
Bilateral trade between India and China has seen a drastic jump over the last decade. From a modest $3 billion at the turn of the century, annual trade reached $42 billion in 2008-09, India's Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, Jyotiraditya Scindia, said.
"Trade between India and China is set to reach new heights by the end of this financial year," he added.
India-China bilateral trade reached $32 billion in the first half of 2010. Overall trade in 2010 is expected to exceed $60 billion.
"Ten years ago, if I told someone that China would be India's largest trading partner with a bilateral trade of $60 billion, he would have said 'You must be smoking something illegal' ," said Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Indian ambassador to China.
Also, Chinese authorities have encouraged Chinese companies to expand cooperation with Indian businesses, Jaishanker said, declining to provide more details.
"I'm confident that soon there will be policy initiatives to ease the entry for more Indian IT and pharmaceutical companies in Chinese markets," Scindia said.
India also hopes for a lowering of tariffs in China for the import of Indian manufactured equipment and agricultural products, he added.
Scindia called for complementary business cooperation between India and China. "The two countries can profit tremendously from each other's strengths."
The strength of Chinese companies in equipment manufacturing will play a significant role in India's quest to upgrade its infrastructure. On the other hand, China can draw significantly from India's expertise and professional acumen in finance, education and healthcare, he said.
"I firmly believe that strong bilateral trade relations between India and China will go a long way in stabilizing India-China relations," Scindia said.
However, Chinese businessmen still need more information on Indian business opportunities, Jaishankar noted.
When China first opened up in the late 1970s, India was a closed economy. As a result, Indian companies, brands and goods are less known in China, he said. "We came late, so we have to work extra hard to make up for the time we lost."
The embassy has been encouraging Indian companies to step up their marketing efforts in China and hold forums to boost communication and cooperation between the two countries' entrepreneurs.
He said India-China trade has the potential to expand by many times. "But to achieve that, we need closer interaction between the two peoples and better understanding of how each other's system works."

we need significant investment in border Q/A and import Q/A for indian pharmaceuticals. otherwise it could severely threaten the health and safety of chinese citizens.

i am not agree with the argument that lets bulid trade relations and rest will follow..
lets see japan-china relations , they has a annual trade of over 200bnUSD compare to 42bn that india do with china...yet , it dodn't help in anyway to improve japan-china relations...

NEW DELHI: Setting a positive tone, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday hailed India as a "great neighbour" and expressed confidence that the two countries would reach "important strategic consensus" during the visit and take bilateral ties to an "even higher level". 
"I hope that my visit will help increase our cooperation in wide-range of fields and raise our friendship and cooperation to an even higher level," Jiabao told reporters after being accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
With Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by his side, Wen said that China and India now faced good opportunities to expand cooperation and pursue common development goals.
"I have the confidence that with the joint efforts of the Prime Minister and I, we will be able to reach important strategic consensus during the visit and the visit will yield important outcomes," he said speaking through an interpreter.
On his second visit here in five years, the 68-year-old Wen said he would have "in-depth exchange of views and strategic communications" with Singh and other Indian leaders with the purpose of deepening friendship, expanding practical cooperation and increasing people-to-people exchanges.
"I believe with our joint efforts through the visit, we will be able to raise our cooperation and friendship to a higher level in the new century," he said.
Terming India as a "great neighbour", Wen said the two countries have time-honoured tradition of friendship.
"Entering the new century, the two countries have established strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity," he said.
Noting that this year marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India, he said the two countries "now face good opportunities to expand cooperation and pursue common development" (goals).
"Finally, I would like to extend through you journalists, cordial greetings and best wishes from the Chinese people to the people of India," Wen said.

India, China sign $16bn business deals during Wen visit
Indian and Chinese companies have signed business deals worth $16bn (£10.2bn) on the opening day of Chinese PM Wen Jiabao's three-day official visit to India.
The latest of a number of world leaders to visit India, Mr Wen is accompanied by some 400 Chinese business leaders.
China is India's largest trading partner - two-way trade volumes are set to hit $60bn (£38bn) this fiscal year.
Mr Wen has begun talks with Indian PM Manmohan Singh.
The two men are expected to discuss a number of sensitive issues, including a long-running border dispute. Trade ties and China's relations with Pakistan are also high on the agenda.
Indian and Chinese companies signed some 50 deals in power, telecommunications, steel, wind energy, food and marine products worth $16bn at the end of a business conference attended by Mr Wen in the capital, Delhi, on Wednesday evening.
This overtakes the $10bn of business agreements signed between Indian and American businessman during the recent visit of US President Barack Obama to India.
"There is enough space in the world for the development of both China and India and there are enough areas for us to cooperate," Mr Wen told the business conference.
Massive delegation
Mr Wen - who last visited India five years ago - brings with him one of the largest teams of Chinese business leaders ever to visit India.
The Chinese delegation dwarfs the number of trade chiefs led in recent weeks to India by US President Barack Obama (215), French President Nicolas Sarkozy (more than 60) and British Prime Minister David Cameron (about 40).

PM, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabo hold meet; sign six agreements
New Delhi: India and China today signed six pacts, including one in the field of green technology.
The agreements were signed after talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
Besides the MoU on green technology, the two sides also signed an MoU each on exchange of hydrological data of common rivers, media exchanges and cultural exchanges.
Two pacts were signed in the banking sector which include an MoU each between Reserve Bank of India and Chinese Bank Regulatory Commission and EXIM Bank of India and Chinese Development Bank.
The two sides have decided to establish the mechanism of regular exchange of visits between Heads of State/Government.
The decision on opening of a telephone hotline between the Prime Minister of India and Chinese Premier was welcomed by both sides. Both the countries agreed on regular consultations between the two leaders on issues of importance. They also agreed to establish the mechanism of annual exchange of visits between the two Foreign Ministers.
Earlier, the Chinese Premier had said that India-China relationship was developing and a 'strategic consensus' would be reached.
"I believe with our joint efforts through the visits we will be able to raise our cooperation and friendship to a higher level in the new century... I have the confidence that with the joint effort of the PM I we will be able to reach important and strategic consensus to issues... the visit visit will yield important outcomes," said Wen Jiabo.

Britian colonized india for nearly 100 years robbing india and split yr country , yet we dont seem any anti briatain sentiment here or any where else in india, on the contrary india endorse its master culture to an extend that they even make english one of their official languages and proud of it too. oh and dont forget the CWG another reminder of colonization and India was so proud of hosting it even though it makes a complete mess of it.

It is a good point where's all the grievance against the UK. China beat you in a minor border clash started by India, and the British raped your country for 200 years/is responsible for setting India up with hostile neighbors in East and West Pakistan. Yet you kiss David Cameron hand and are protest/mistrustful of Wen's visit.
