What's new

Chinese new year Greetings !

I really don't know but is it food offerings in pots, that are made to the Jade Emperor and also to Zao Jun, the God of the Kitchen?

Happy New Year to all Chinese People :)

It's a bit early for that.

Now is actually an auspicious time to do the cleaning actually. In Cantonese we say "年廿八,洗邋遢"。

The purpose is to sweep away the bad luck of the preceding year, to make the house ready for good fortune from the next year.

Such custom exists in India too, but its related with Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth.

I do hope the year of the snake continues bringing peace and prosperity to Asia. My special wish goes to the Chinese people "All the best!" and to our friend in Japan "calm sea"! :azn:

I saw a shadow of chinese culture from your pics
Banh chung/Banh tet (steam cake)----similar to some areas of south china, maybe it has something to do with zongzi粽子
Canh Măng (Dried bamboo shoot soup)----looks like Guangdong soup
Mut (Sweets) ,Pickles we have ,too
Bò kho (beef with cinnamon)----this one surprised me....very North China style.
