Hong Kong citizens not obliged to serve in British Armed Forces, but they can choose to serve British Armed Force or any British Civil Position (From Police to Librarian) had they wish to and process a British National Oversea passport.

To join The London Regiment you need to be a citizen of the UK,
Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland.
If you do not hold a British Passport you will need proof of indefinite leave to stay in the UK. You need to be aged between 18 and 43, although older people outside this age group with certain skill sets may still be eligible. Please contact us for further details.
Since the People in Hong Kong are eligible to apply for British National Overseas passport, which is a British Passport, they do not need nor require to fill the ILR requirement, but for other Commonwealth Citizens, (such as Indian or Pakistani), an ILR, which equal to Permanent Residence is required to enlist in the British Army, as Indian or Pakistani or even Australian Passport were not British Passport
