Why a missile test needs secrecy? It provides a deterrence. More your "enemies" know about your capabilities, more you can keep them at bay.

To some degree that is true but don't be so naive friend. When you have an adversary that is counting the days to launch an attack when you are least prepared.....known capabilities become a weak point that get exploited. It allows your potential adversary to build countermeasures to defeat your weapon platforms. Once this happens, the question won;t be whether you will lose the war but how much will lose!

As far as India is concerned, Indian media is soooo stupid at times that they give live feed of ongoing ops against terrorists (read 26/11) which really helped the terrorists a lot.

I guess it is all a trade-off of having a democracy, one can say anything...literally anything.

But still there is US which is a democracy and yet it preserves its secrets very well.

The same thing happens in the United States all the time. The difference is, the Americans have safeguards in place to black out channels or scramble transmission frequencies in the vicinity of broadcast antennas if they deem a situation too dangerous. That's one way they control the American media and tailor the images to match whatever message they want to convey. It's actually pretty straightforward but tell that to the dumbed down American audience who swear they have unbiased, unfiltered media free of government influence.

Russians are the direct descendants of Indo-Europeans. Mongolic gene is indeed overrated in Russian gene pool. In fact, it is measly.
