1. Tamils were never denied Sri Lankan citizenship

Many Tamils were denied citizenship actually (for very much the same reason - they were seen as recent arrivals to Sri Lanka)....and were expatriated back to India through negotiations (which BD never even tried because of chip on shoulder about whole issue).

2. Tamils wanted independence unlike Rohingya who just want the same rights as other
Myanmarese

Some did, some didn't. Even during the SL Civil war, the majority of Colombo metropolitan area was Tamil population. Ask @Gibbs

As for Rohingya, lets not forget they did ask for Pakistan to invade and join Arakan to East Pakistan at the time. That's one step more than independence. Good thing Pakistan didn't try it (esp in hindsight seeing what East Pakistan eventually did to their West Pakistani compatriots) and even better that Burma didn't forget that episode to add to the long list of what the Rohingya community have done to backstab Burma whenever possible.

Its ok you have to make them out to be pure angels. That's your job as eternal self declared goodies and moral voice of all "bengali" people....heck even 3 million of you were killed by the evil evil Pakistanis right? We have to accept that as verbatim truth too? (Well you definitely have to within BD, even under BNP, by threat of prosecution). There are similarities and differences. The main difference being Tamils like me accept the Tamils in SL and even in TN made mistakes w.r.t nationalist movements and their effect on esp SL which wanted a more equal proportional representation in their govt and elite of Sinhalese majority....and that there were indeed recent Tamil migrants who were essentially still Indian that should be returned to India. The whole civil war was essentially on political rather than divisive religious/cultural issues.... @Gibbs has talked about it many times.

But BD people will never ever admit or concede even one point regarding the Rohingya. They treat as black and white issue, thus MM will use black and white response in kind. It is also has a very cultural/religious angle to is as well.

In summary, sure some Rohingya integrated with MM largely....the same that MM is in favour of letting stay in Rakhine (and are assisting MM against the Rohingya terrorist groups) and giving citizenship eventually on top of the status papers they already have. Myanmar made its new citizenship law after reviewing which ethnic groups have always been in Myanmar and are part of Myanmar's core identity. Every other resident has a burden of proof to convince the majority they are Burmese by default....Rohingya didn't cut the mark (they have to essentially prove themselves as loyal person by person), they have themselves to blame for that through their own actions before, during and after British Raj....which aung can update you on. Rohingya are not 100% angels and Burmese are not 100% demons...it is way more nuanced than that. The whole timeline and environment is relevant to the context, just like we dont label US forces as the bad mass murdering side in WW2 by scoping into say their killing of unarmed German POW's and ignoring everything else.
