Chinese literature thrives in Vietnam

文庙(the first character means Literature/culture/civilisation) in China is all translated as Confucius Temple. Simply call them Literature Temple is narrowing its meaning.
Right, this 'Temple' is not just for worshiping our ancestors but also is a place for the princes to study.

. .
i guess Literature(文) here stands for Confucian classical literatures like 四书五经.
宣王 is a title of Confucius given by an emperor in Tang Dynasty, a general concept rather than literature or books.

haha, It is you! what you are talking about is exactly a vivid description of your people, bullying the weak neighbouring countries like laos and combodia while fearful of China, having been paying tributes to China throughout the history. you people should be thankful that you have such a benevolent and merciful neighbour that is China, who taught you so many things, from dressing to cooking ,from reading to writing ,and finally draged you people out of the jungles and helped you people to stand on your own feet. i guess the reason why you are so impressed by AQ is that you find AQ is simply a mirror image of you, a long lost twin brother, lol.
First: Lu Xun wrote it to show his disgusted to the Chinese national character., not VNese one

Second: We dont bow down to China nor US , dont forget that Ly Thuong Kiet carried out a pre-emptive attack to Song dynasty. We didnt annex your land just bcz its so barren and useless :pop:
In 1075, Wang Anshi, the prime minister, told the Song emperor that Đại Việt was being destroyed byChampa, with less than ten thousand soldiers surviving, hence it would be a good occasion to annex Đại Việt. The Song emperor mobilized troops and passed a decree to forbid all the provinces to trade with Đại Việt. Upon hearing the news, the Lý ruler sent Lý Thường Kiệt and Tôn Đản with more than 100,000 troops to China to carry out a pre-emptive attack against the Song troops. In the ensuing 40-day battle near modern-day Nanning, the Đại Việt troops were victorious, capturing the generals of three Song armies.

lol you fought the US with the help of China. We fought the US also with the help of ourselves. . 越南的所谓胜利只是狐假虎威,要是没有背后的中国和苏联,当年越南的下场不会比今天的伊拉克和利比亚好多少。

It's translated to Latin Vietnamese .. bastardized at best.
How about Mandarin Pinyin its latin.

It's really hard to deny Confucius-sphere's impact when u still find Confucius temple printed on their currency and also when I traveled there and find:
Out of the Confucius temple in Hanoi
btw, their calligraphy is much worse than mine:p:

I am thinking if they wanna know more about their nation's history, they have to learn Chinese right?

Chữ nôm is dying out and very few scholars can read it.

I notice the Vietnamese love watching our film, listen to our music, and most importantly, love practicing our culture. They are truly a good discipline in 21st century. LOL

VN likes films and dramas from all different countries. Korean, Chinese, American, Thai, Philippinnes and even Indian.

Cpop isn't that popular among the young kids there more into Vpop and Kpop.

I remember a less popular group from Vietnam called HKT swept through Mainland China and gain a lot of fans.

Chinese literature thrives in Vietnam
English.news.cn 2015-03-16

Most of the Chinese outstanding online literature has been translated into Vietnamese, including romantic novels of nearly 100 Chinese online writers.

Due to Vietnam and China being close geographically and the two nations sharing their oriental culture and heritage, Vietnamese readers increasingly enjoy reading Chinese books translated into Vietnamese.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
online literature? can VN members here confirm this?

Well, I said this before, many Vietnamese netizen reading Chinese internet novels (from Qidian, Zongheng ... etc), we used software to tranlaste them into Vietnamese.
You know, with huge population netizen, Chinese has huge number online writer, and so huge novel resource in many section like fantasy, martial arts, romantic, science, horror ...

With a close tie in Sino-sphere culture which content China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam , so it has some influence on our reading and watching hobby.

First was romantic of martial arts fiction in 1960, from 1990, movies and TV series films of TVB (HongKong) were very popular and wide spread. (I like those films, some very good)

From 2000s, when Internet was become wide spread, for the youth, it's Japanese anime and Manga at first, then K-pop wave was come and popular in all Asian countries.

The popularity of Chinese online novel come after 2005, I think so, after a time, Huang Yi and Xiao Ding 's fictions become popular, a new wing for Wuxia fiction, and was translated to Vietnamese. (Chinese martial arts Comic also become good stuff to read and wide spread)

It's need time to translate, but readers was so hungry for new chapter, so some was create automatic translator software, and like I said, with so easy to got new stuff for reading, Chinese online novel become wide spread, just like manga, anime from Japan or Korean's movies and TV show.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

But like @BoQ77 said, it's main reason to become popular because "goodness", not because cultural tie, so if it was good and free things, so we enjoy it. (thought I and many readers consider most of them is crap, 80% low crap, 15 % average, 5% is good stuff).

For new Wuxia style, I read some, but best at recently was 赘婿, (not include Huang Yi's novel)

I stick with classic, and quite picky with new writing works, but luckily, we have you here.

Oh, I forgot, one of main reasons about popular of Chinese online novel, because there's many novels for girls, women ... just like wuxia fiction has new wing, after Chiung Yao's famous age, Taiwan has many female writers came to online broad.
Viet girls like those new stuff ... :partay:

P/S: just wonder how old are you !? I'm under 30

Good to see Vietnamese people appreciating the beautiful Chinese literature.
For now. Who knows maybe 100 years from now they will claim it is China who copied Vietnamese martial arts drama, and Jin Yong is Vietnamese or Bai yue. *

*assuming Vietnam still exist as a country

^But some Chinese have a superiority complex. I don't think that will ever happen. I read something a few days about Chinese claiming that attractive Vietnamese girls are from China.:disagree:

Most attractive” college girl in Vietnam goes viral on Chinese Internet.

Recently, a college girl in Vietnam became an Internet hit and was called the “most attractive college girl in Vietnam”. According to her introduction on her Weibo, she was born in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong Province, but grew up in Vietnam. We can learn that she is an attractive girl who enjoys her life from her photos. (Photo source: @yeohuny's Weibo)
