Chinese literature thrives in Vietnam

After winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012, Chinese writer Mo Yan has become more popular in Vietnam, while Lu Xun has a specific reputation in the country with two of his works being printed in Vietnamese literature textbooks.
i was a bit bewildered when i saw a viet member here keep saying AQ,AQ, if it has something to with BQ?haha, so i khow it is because lu xun's works are compulsory to study in vietnam. personally, i dont like Lu Xun, a cynical loser who contributes nothing positive to China.

Music ? hmmm. I'm afraid that NOT.
Don't know why youth is in love with K-pop
Film ? martial art movies or Tales of Three kingdoms ... or similar is popular than modern ones.
LOL There are countless Vietnamese dub translation of Chinese songs. It is undeniable, my friend.

Even modern one, especially from HK is popular for Vietnamese.

who could have time to watch such boring film series ? Is there Chinese culture with full of dirty trick-track to fight mutual in family members related to king to get a heritage of the throne ?
Chinese film series are classic, meaning it has an immense influence on Vietnamese. This is not the same as those K-drama which people watch and they forget about it the next time. The 4 classical films and Jin Yong's films are classic case of long lasting impression on Vietnamese culture.

Frankly speaking I watched one good film from China long time ago, I dont remember the title. I was the story of young chinese, who have to given up study and go to rural area to have works on the fields in time of culture revolution.

Wish Chinese writers start write in English. It's easier to reach the readers.
......not gonna happen. Chinese language is our soul.
we do need more good translators though, many masterpieces are still untouched or poorly translated could hardly reach readers around the world.

humm...i'm generally ok with Lu Xun. we need cynics like him sometimes (just a few would be enough...).

Chinese internet novels transcend limitations. I was an active participant in Sina Book (新浪读书原创) until it got shut down.

We as writers are the voice of the youth of developing nations. No one else will write about the struggles of youth that move alone to the cities, the confusion of high schoolers to find themselves in a rapidly changing world, the internal conflict between money and integrity for government officials and journalists in high stakes mental warfare between government, business and media. From 梦里花落知多少 to 花季无声 to 天使不在线 we tell the stories that the west neglect in favor of fantasy and sports stories. We tell your stories.

It is a heavy burden. Chinese writers bear this burden with pride.

When I was traveling in Vietnam, I noticed a lot of Vietnamese were watching Chinese soap operas, some of which I had never watched before, my mother would like those stories of mother-in-law VS daughter/son-in-law.:p:

I am thinking if they wanna know more about their nation's history, they have to learn Chinese right?

Andrew. No one denied that Vietnam didn't adopt Confucius spirit.
The Literature Temple that you must visited actually is Confucius Temple, located in middle of Hanoi - the capital.
very well-known landmark.

The second, this Tet holiday when qualifying calligraphy, more than half of them can't pass the qualification.
At the time you visited , there's bundle of weak skill "workers".

And the fact that, they do the works and the visitors accept them just like a painting work
Just like this

Vietnam ever adopted Chinese characters, latin characters. That's writing language, used for writing down speaking language of Vietnamese.

For example, we use binary 0 and 1 to digitalize everything. Use this or that.

Literature Temple??
I think they were not "workers", they were selling those calligraphy works which represent good blessings or other auspicious meanings when u hand them on the walls or somewhere else.

I skipped this town since I was more into Saigon's history than Chinese-style ancient towns, like Reunification Palace and the Chinese blocks where L'amant took place.
