Chinese literature scores a hit with Vietnamese

I wasn’t talking about western perceptions, I was talking about Viet perception of China. As shown by those stats, it is mostly negative, and the anti-PRC and pro-west postings of the PDF members reflect that. But your state media made it looks like it is all nice and gooey. Thats why some PDF Chinese members make this kind of comment:

“With the growing amount of hatred between the 2 peoples on forums which is not reflecting the true scenariao as indicated in trade, top level diplomacy and other cultural stuffs, It only benefits opportunists like jpn and ind trolls plus pinoys and usa as well which would like China and Viets to go into a war”

This is more about Geopolitics, or distance creates beauty Usually neighboring countries have more shared interests and more conflicts of interests.. Vietnam may say anti-PRC in their mouths, but still much and much more Vietnamese go to study, work and do business in PRC. Human beings tend to remember bad memory instead of good memory.


This has a negative effect. It means that Chinese will be shocked when reality eventually hit them when they go abroad...or when they go on foreign online social media.

There was an old thread on this...about Chinese students studying abroad having flowery expectation but then end up returning back disgrunted when reality hit them (e.g. when foreigners/foreign countries are not as nice as they had imagined) and missing out on their opportunities.

There may be side effects, but this is why more and more countries like to do trade with China.This allows Chinese to play active roles in improving relations.



Are you talking about the country or people? Because from my personal observations, most countries/foreign media have a more positive view of Japan/Japanese, sometime justified and sometime not.

No. The west media may tend to view Japanese positively because you side with the west. However, Westerners still view Japan as a barbaric country. The Chrysanthemum and the Sword is a classical book always cited in the United States about Japanese culture. But they tend to like Chinese culture because since Roman era, Chinese civilization is a very interesting enigma to them. Especially with the rapid rising of China with different model from the West, Chinese culture is very curiousness to them.In a short word, in the western eyes, Japan is a barbaric country, which need to be civilized by the West; China is a country with different civilization.

Maybe by this view, the occupy of United States on Japan is validated. But this is the reality.
