Chinese Intervention in North Korea

. . .
Little did the North Koreans knew that their partnership with the Chinese to save communism in the peninsula would enslave their coming generations under weird looking dictators.

China pushed the entire UN army out of North korea

I will not debate on the war, but I think that the Chinese efforts to sabotage the UN mission was a blessing in disguise. The line between South Korea and North Korea became a line separating different ideologies and a different way of life. People on one side of the line became one of the most developed countries of the world with a unique culture which even started to influence the West. I hope you know which Korea I am talking about.

Then there was the other Korea which became the largest prison on the planet. Where people cannot laugh or cry. Where people are told to love their dictator no matter what. Where they are told to be subservient to the communist party. Any thing that they innovate is against the party manifesto. Millions live in poverty while the capital is furnished with tall empty buildings; hotels and Ski resorts ,with no one to use them, are made to show the world that they are a fully developed country. I pity the men living in that nation.

DPRK is best Korea

Millions of DPRK citizen disagree with you.

Ideology is merely the surface, If you can go back a little bit, you can see Chinese intervention in Korea can be dated back to 600AD of Tang dynasty, no matter how many Empire may have comes and goes, Korea remains one of the core national interest of China.

As for the living standard and their government, no one can play god and tells the future but one thing is for sure, Ideology is not the key factor but money, DRPK had upper hand over SK until the 1980S and later ofc the fall of Soviet Union makes thing much worse.

SK raised during the reign of military dictatorship and their first pot of gold was rewarded by Americans for their blood
spilled over the Vietnam war which the SK general deployed 320K soldiers.

South Korea in the 70s and 80s was military dictatorship under first Park Chung Hee later Another General rights were brutally suppressed look at the 1980 Gwanju Massacre or the 1987-1988 uprisings besides their economic planning was heavily socialistic in nature

The west had its first pot of gold from colonialism but the latecomer does not have such opportunity thus most of the Asian developed countries started from total autocracy/military dictatorship with planned economic and blood sweatshops.

Despite being outgunned, out numbered, no airforce and barely any heavy weapons.

It's that time Chinese got to know what's vast industrial capabilities of US, but now everything changed. It would be interesting to compare the industrial capabilities of China in Korea war with anti-coronavirus war.

10 or 20 senior commanders can substitute Marshall Peng. Marshall Peng cannot pull this off if he command kmt units.

The victory of Korean War is more due to the culture of pla than individual talent.

And the chief architect of pla is chairman Mao Zedong.

If the PLA commander at that time was Lin Biao, would he have done the same feat as Peng DeHuai?
