Chinese graduates lament Western degrees no longer a fast track for top jobs, employers prefer local degrees

LOL!
Hey you should stop celebrating your 1940's revolution and stick with things only in the present.
How often do you see me celebrating 1940's revolution ? I mainly focus on China's latest development , at least 99% of my posts, I don't know where you got this strange impression that I keep celebrating 1940's revolution.

Math is as much racist as NBA, Track and Field.

No Child should be left behind. We should only teach topics that everyone could understand or do.

You should not conduct exams. You cannot discriminate against students who are unable to perform.

. . .
Well that certainly is surprising. I figured you guys would have that all set in the 1960's.

Edit: Well maybe that was a little too early

That's only the city center.

We just gained independence in the 1960s and we were still broke then. Trains were not a priority when the majority of the population were living in slums. Even in the 1980s we're still not sure whether we can afford it.

I knew many, many friends who grew up in the old HDB flats in the seventies, they said they were the lucky ones. The frugality, practicality and lack of pretense of middle class Singaporeans (even today) is something very admirable.

You don't understand the meaning of this article. China's demand for western education has not declined, but the composition of students studying in the West has changed.
In the past, the best students in China chose to go abroad. Now, in addition to the students from famous foreign universities, those who go to ordinary western universities are the losers of China's college entrance examination, and those who are eliminated by China's domestic universities. Therefore, graduation certificates from foreign ordinary universities are no longer popular in Chinese companies.
I'll confess that I did not read the OP.

Ordinary US universities are there for immigrating to US. They exist by taking advantage of demand based immigration laws of US. So the fact that they cannot get hired back in China is not surprising.

It's important to remind ourselves from time to time that we were poor not too long ago. We're a country with no hinterland after all.

Yes, feet should be firmly planted in the ground.

By the way His Excellency Lee Kuan Yew is widely revered in the Bangladesh business community.

Bangladesh won't become Singapore in another ten or even twenty years, but we can keep working at that goal.

It is a nice benchmark.

This man was definitely one of the greatest leaders of this past century. Very humble/ well spoken and he doesn't even have to read from scripts like some leaders. For him to still have such a clear lucid mind to speak so eloquently even at such an old age, shows just how brilliant he was. Singaporeans were soooo lucky to have him as leader(unlike other developing countries who had incompetent selfish leaders during their post independence era) when they needed it the most. He almost Single-handedly built Singapore to what it is today and made sure the system he built will last even after him . You can tell that he loves his country more than anything else. Respect.

Yeah, his greatest legacy was to institutionalize what has worked in SG and made sure that the system will endure long beyond him.

Agree, that to me is his greatest achievement and success. To not only build a country but make sure you build a good enough foundation, institutions and system in such a way that with or without you the country will keep functioning properly even after you. That's what a great leader is all about. Especially for a developing country who still hasn't set up a proper base/foundation if governance. He did brilliantly well. Else Singapore wouldn't much different from others like Philippines/Bangladesh/Pakistan etc. A poor country still striving to find its way with lots of handicapped and corrupt olitivians making use of the broken system for their personal benefit

Your tiny cities actually have subways? What are they? Like five miles long with three stops like Disneyland? Lmao

You know China has the largest subway systems in the world right? This is why I know your stories are pure crock. Lmao

And your subway system runs on greek alphabet? Thats what i mean. Your people function well in their habitat, when you push them into an unknown environment, they fail.
Who is the briliant leader you are talking about? Bush? Trump? Biden? or Modi?

You know their names. I know not a single chinese one. Thats your main problem. China can not create power outside its own realm. It has no cultural power. Nobody wants to be like China, its movies are unknown in the west. Its culture seen as bizarre at best. So China will never be able to create a cultural hegemony as the west.
The engineers have more logical or critical thinking far more than those

US leader.
