Chinese firm stamps on the feasibility report of monorail service under CPEC in Twin Cities (Rawalpindi & Islamabad)

Expressing interest in the construction of the monorail service from Rawat to Islamabad International #Airport (IIA), a Chinese firm has termed the project to be viable, low-cost and environment-friendly.

The Chinese Civil Engineering Corporation (CCEC) in its study report of the project has said that the construction of the track for the rail service was viable and could be built cheaply.

The report added that the project would cause no harm to the environment of the twin cities as the monorail would be run on electricity.

The track would be 100 kilometres (km) long and connect Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The train would run on electricity instead of bio-fuel, making it environment-friendly, it said.

From Rawat to Soan Adda, the track would be laid on road, however, from Soan Adda to Kutcheri Chowk and on Mall Road, an elevated track would be constructed for the monorail service.

The train would run on the Metro Bus track from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad Secretariat

cost? do we really need it? I think people can easily use Islamabad express highway.
Don't really mind if its super cheap, but again is it really necessary.

. . .
Feasibility should be done by independent consultants hired by the government. How is that this company allowed to do feasibility and also given the contract?

If it is so sure it is viable, GOP should let it construct and operate on a commercial basis, get its return from the operation.

They really really need to widen and repair the Islamabad Expressway because it is a total joke. Daily commute on it is hell. It is very dangerous as well with all the trucks taking this route to go to Peshawar, accidents regularly happening every week.

It will be BOT project just like Pindi/ISB ring road.

Instead of monorail they could have gone for normal trainsets as the distance is 100km
Monorails are slower .

there is already a metro bus service between rwp and isb. rawat to soan adda is about 15km and that isn't in metro bus track.

we have seen hundreds of feasibility studies and blah blah, but commuters of Isb and Pindi have not got a decent public transport system since ages. Imagine sitting in 1-c Toyota Dabba in hot summers with 40 degrees. Something should be done as soon as possible

Pakistan should not build a monorail to Murree. It would be a more cost effective (thereby requiring less or hopefully no subsidy when completed) to built a funicular railway from a large plaza at the base of the climb up to a large plaza/square (possibly at GPO House)

We should be studying what the Swiss have been doing for over a 100 years

here is a 360’ video so you can see for yourself

If successful, we can use this technique at multiple tourism areas in Gilgit Baltistan near the Karakoram Highway to boost traffic of local and international tourists.

I do believe we need to link Muzafarabad with Islamabad via a continuation of the rail line from Havalian, not just for tourism sake but also political and military logistical reasons

i belong to rawat well if you know kallar syedan. trust me from rawat to pindi is so dusty and poluted that whenever we go back to pak it takes days for us to get used to air. this progect will ease traffic and burden on islamabad expressway. And dnt forget cheap fares for people who travel daily to pindi and islamabd.
