Chinese experts explain why India and Russia jointly develop FGFA

Decent article, I'd give it 7.5/10. The route taken by China and India is completely different, decided by their geo-political climate as well as idealogies. In the end, it boils down to need.

Diplomatic isolation, up until 1990's, was the norm of China. Relationship with Soviet Union and United States were patchy at best, and down right hostile at worst. While foreign help was at times available, they're prone to being cut off. In addition, self sufficiency has always been a propaganda selling point for the communist government since the beginning. For China, developing independence in weaponary was a matter of do or die. If China could not produce its own weapons, then its military would have to fight with sticks and stones because nobody would sell weapons.

India on the other hand, maintained relatively good relationship with both United States and the USSR. Procurement was rarely a problem, thus the need is nowhere as urgent as China's. It's not that India is incapable of accompolishing the same feat as China, but rather the need is not there. Man does not have to craft his own supplies when he can purchase them. It's just that simple.

it is a full scrap of a article...
a typical tone in which pakistanies used to talk about india , is now been followed by the chinese.....
indian technology is weak , india only funding the russian project etc etc etc...

people used to ignore the effart IAF engineers put on su-30 to make it su-30mki ..
the indian affert in transforming brahmos into a leathal weapon...
(note : Tata making next generation EW systems for the army beating Israeli company.}

about FGFA , if chinese expert thinks that a 5th gen fighter is only about engine and radar , then he better take a chill .....

and when this chinese experts talk about india getting rafale/typhoon it appesrs they talk more out of frustation then on expertizes...

and above all , chinese says , they won't bother/think about india..

Yeah they produce these copies just because they can , Can you ? Many countries before China have done it and will continue to do so in the future ... Wars aren't fought on ethical grounds like you think so kindly stop this " Poor me " thinking !

Yes, even we can copy like the chinese but copying someones design and technology undermines ones intelligence, its better to share and understand the technology rather than copying it :coffee:

The title of thread is wrong Indian is not developing FGFA with Russia, India just providing the money.
Russia offered PAK-FA to Nigera and Algeria so am not surprised by Indian inductions of 200 or 300 fighters.

Are you out of your mind, can nigeria and algeria afford a 100 million dollar plane.

214 FGFAs, including 166 single-seat and 48 twin-seat models.

Aren't all FGFA's supposed to be twin seaters ? :undecided:

The T-50 has on-board equipment but a lot has still to be created, for example, a digital data bus similar to the American 1553B. Russia lags behind in this area but France can share a similar technology with India if the Rafale fighter wins the tender.

Rafale :partay:

India has a special way of military thinking it wants to get ready-made products not bothering to develop new ones.

I think the participation in the development of modern aircraft would be useful for India since the country needs designing experience.

Contradictory statements..
If we are not bothered to develop new products then why would we need designing experience?
India only bothers about getting the best available product whether the product is home grown or imported.

If all goes as planned, can India surpass the US in the number of heavy fifth-generation fighters?

That’s true.

:woot: :yahoo:

Given the difficult economic situation in Europe, India can succeed in "extorting" technologies. For example, these aircrafts have very good avionics and India can become a "consolidator" of European and Russian technologies in the FGFA project.
-----------
First, it is because of the relative cheapness of Russian military hardware and equipment. Second, Russia is willing to transfer much more technology than Western countries. India uses this situation to diversify arms purchases thus achieving greater independence in the sources of weapons. For example, India buys the C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft in the United States.

:chilli: Evil yindoo b@niyas.:p:lol:

Sorry Boss! you are in delusion. If we can make licensed version we can copy also. But thats not our doctrine. copying the enemy technology is wise, copying the friends technology is cheating...

What if you sell JF17 to Nigeria and it copies your JF17, and sell it with NG17 name???

A very good article, with no bias.

Some people in the West erroneously assume that the T-50 is Russian and funded by India. This is false. The Indian and Russian one are two completely different programs.

The T-50's design looks good, although still needs a lot more work. Especially those engines.

From what I have heard, the Russian one will focus more on maneuverability than stealth. Whereas the Indian one is the opposite. The French or other European nations can be of help.

Guess, the chinese media, magazines, defence experts have no other work  other than crying on INDIA

The only probelm in the artical was in las question and that is Russia easily shares its latest tech with India that is completely not true bemember that whole T90 drama they created some years back??

BTW FGFA will going to be having indian made tech (if go by various sources). But I can't expect anything better from you as today you are commenting on our money providing capability and 2morow you will comment on our developing capability

Russia offered PAKFA to Nigeria and Algeria :woot: .

India will be upset and unsatisfied with FGFA later maybe due to the late delivery, repairs, fees, delay, and other issues. I think, India will change mind to order F-35s. India learned experienced with Russia past cooperation.

India has not been satisfied with Russia's execution of its obligations within the scope of defense cooperation. Indian officials particularly said that Russia does not meet the requirements of delivery dates, modernization and repairs.

This will same applied to FGFA. :disagree:

I thanked you for the concern you showed but wanna ask how can you say that ??? As PAKFA is as important to Russia as it is to India and the experiance you are talking about are of those deals where India was just a buyer but in this case we partners.

I agree with you, let's see the outcome. Depend on India relation with West, Russia have the authority to stop this project with India if India keen closer with West. Remember, how anger the Russian was when their bid for MMRCA was lost and harrassed Indian Navy excerise calling off navy combat exercise. Source

I think this is last project between Russia and India (in something 2020s) again depend on India/US relations.
