Lol Mc Donald's is still in China and also largely invested by private US equity group carlyle Group IncThey become less and less and even Macdonalds Chinese operation had been sold to China for several years already, but one thing you are right, China was pro west too in the past, but everyone can see it's no more now, thank to US recent anti China policies.
McDonald's gives up control of its China business in $2 billion deal
McDonald's is selling off most of its China business to a massive Chinese financial firm and a U.S. private equity giant.money.cnn.com
Like @Hamartia Antidote posted, Not only are they in China but they are growing even larger and expanding more. Seems Chinese are fond of American fast food chains. Lol
Mc Donald's alone made over billions of dollar in China alone last year and they are estimated to make even more this year. That's just one American fast food chain brand..I'm not counting other US companies operating and also making tens/hundreds of billions there.
McDonald's sets to open 900 stores in lower-tier Chinese cities

To be honest US/Western companies have made(and are still making) alot of money from China. Reason Isome are not really keen on the US trying to contain China so much. Lots of money to be made there. However I understand geopolitical interets can often superceded financial greed as well.
