Chinese defense minister urges favorable media environment for Sino-Indian ties

China and India should make efforts to lead media and public opinions into an aspiring and positive direction which can help create a favorable environment for the development of bilateral ties, said Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie Thursday.

The two countries should do more work on what is favorable for boosting bilateral relations, and try to exert aspiring and positive impact on media and public opinions to facilitate good environment and conditions for Sino-Indian relations, Liang told visiting Indian Defense Secretary Pradeep Kumar, who was here to attend the third round of defense consultation between China and India.

Liang said China and India had made new achievements in exchanges between the two armed forces in recent years, as they enjoyed development of bilateral ties.

China hoped the two countries could take the opportunity of the60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year to enhance cooperation and make more contributions to regional and global prosperity, said Liang, also a State Councilor.

Noting India-China peace and friendship would benefit not only the two peoples, but also the whole mankind, Kumar said the two nations should make concerted efforts to create a favorable environment for their development.

Kumar said the two countries should push forward military exchanges on the basis of mutual respect and mutual trust, and promote the comprehensive development of the state-to-state relations.

Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Ma Xiaotian and Kumar jointly presided over the consultation on Wednesday, during which they exchanged views on issues including regional security and bilateral military ties, according to a report by the PLA Daily.

Ma hailed the mechanism of consultation served as a good platform for building up mutual trust between the two armed forces, and he said the two sides achieved consensus on advancing bilateral military ties during the consultation.

SCO is a semi military alliance meant to counter "terrorist" - the biggest one, are you sure India want to side with them?

Wasn't expecting such childish post from you. Where in the proposed doctrine or in any other official statement you found any offensive posture of India? It has been and will always be "Defensive doctrine".
