Chinese daily fears India may resume nuclear tests.

Chinese anxiety regarding possible future Indian nuclear tests are understandable, because their bigger and superior offensive capabilities will be deterred by better nuclear weapons. Bangladesh has nothing to worry about.

India has nuclear weapons since 1974, it has not used its nuclear weapons against its arch-rival pakistan. So, Bangladesh has nothing to worry about future Indian nuclear tests.

Bangladesh has a lot to worry about. The Indian threat to Bangladesh is not WMD's but direct interference and conventional weapons. A broader coalition against such aggression would deter Indian nuclear posturing and also its interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbours.

Real or imagined worry that India would interfere with its neighbours is justifiable.

However, to attack BD should not be on the cards since if India wanted it could have done so, as the US has done in Iraq. India pulled out as soon as possible after 1971.

India has adequate internal problems on their hand and to capture a neighbour would be foolish since it will only add to another insurrection. It would be very juvenile to do so given Pakistan's experience in 1971.

Any alliance that BD makes with another country will not be material in the same manner as it did not when Bangladesh was East Pakistan.

It is better for India to have a friendly or a neutral Bangladesh.

India's nuclear posturing will not be deterred by Bangladesh going into any union since it is not Bangladesh centric nor is it required against Bangladesh as history has shown.

Bangladesh should realize its strategic limitations wrt India..India is an enemy which Bangladesh can ill afford, we surround you on three sides by land and on 4th side by our eastern fleet.
As of now we are not rivals but any attempt by Bangladesh to become a part of an anti India coalition will change that...though this kind of rivalry might be interest of other players in the region but defiantly not in Bangladesh.

Because as the saying goes.." when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers"..it is best not to become some one else's collateral.

None of the neighbours of india except Pakistan and China should worry about India nukes..
as our policy says...NO FIRST USE....

India will never use and no need to use or no need to even think of using nukes on our neighbours except china and pakistan...
So they don't have to worry....

ares,'

I would like to look at it a little differently.

While it is correct that BD is covered by India from all four sides and BD has good reasons to be concerned, yet, it is imperative on India's part to allay their fears because of this.

India has to go more than half way to meet the BD concerns.

So you are suggesting Bangladesh merely accept Indian interference as a fact of life. I think sooner than later Indian pushiness will grate on Bangladeshi nerves .....

The biggest reason Bangladesh should start working towards becoming nuclear. China is going to be best option for BD to not only get protected but also gets prosperous.

How Striving for a strong defence by a country amounts to anti-India ???

There is good reasons for Bangladeshis to be irked in having India in the neighbourhood.

There is a justifiable vibrancy in Bangladesh since they have acquired a new identity after 1971 and there is a feeling of justifiable pride. They want to translate this pride into action and be counted. This is natural and it should be appreciated.

It is also natural for anyone to compare with others. This is more so accentuated since the history of India and Bangladesh was a common one before 1947 and all were equal in opportunity.

However, owing to a late entry into the independent status i.e. 1971, they find it annoying that while Indians are no way superior to them when compared with the situation pre 1947, yet they find themselves unable to keep pace with India. It is natural this leads to frustrations.

Hence, as is also usual, one tends to seek scapegoats for their own infirmities and so they find one.

Had Nepal been Bangladesh's neighbour they would have no problem of recounting their pluses and minuses. Likewise, even though Myanmar is a much larger country than Bangladesh flush with minerals, oil and timber, they do not have any issues with them since Myanmar has not really progressed to grip Bangaldeshis with a negative equation with Myanmar.

Bangladesh should go nuclear. Otherwise, it will forever live in the shadow of the elephant. A great injustice for 160 million people.

It is very incorrect to live under the shadow of the Elephant. To imagine the agony of 160 million.

It is better to be devoured by the flames of a Fire Breathing Dragon!

Hallelujah!

If India can consider first use policy against China and Pakistan, then that will surely worry India's other neighbours. If you was saying China has a first use policy, then you are wrong any case. China is known to have a non first use policy themselves.

NO FIRST USE means exactly that the policy is NO FIRST USE.

Therefore, Hakuna matata!!
