A Chinese court in Muslim Xinjiang region has sentenced a 38 year old Uighur man for six years over growing a beard while his wife was given two years for covering her face with a veil.
According to details, the man had started growing his beard in 2010 while his wife wore a veil covering her face. Couple, whose identity and ethnic group were not identified, was found guilty of provoking trouble. They had received several warnings to cut the beard and to remove the veil and burka before being charged.
For more than a year, authorities in Xinjiang have started campaign against men who grow beard.
The government has also introduced a campaign called “Project Beauty”, which encourages women to leave their heads bare and stop covering their faces with a veil.
Authorities widely discourage growing a beard in China because they say it is linked to extremist’s morals.
Last year, authorities in Karamay city banned residents with large beards or Islamic clothing from travelling on public buses.
Xinjiang’s 10 million-plus Turkic-speaking Uighurs is a Turkic Muslim ethnic group that shares close dialectal and cultural links with central Asia.
“A heavy sentence for growing a long beard is typical of the political persecution” faced by Uighurs, said Dilxat Raxit, a spokesman for the exiled World Uyghur Congress.
He also said “If a Chinese person grows a long beard, its personal freedom and fashion; if a Uighur does, he’s a religious extremist”.

I don't think this is for the cloth reason or covering her face with a veil, since I meet many people does this freely, and without any law in China against this, how court jailed them on this reason? I want to know how to write the Verdict for this reason. There must be other reasons on this thing.
And another thing is , no one can force another one to wear or covering others face with veil at any reason, even your father can't force you to wear eccept you want, just my mother can't force me to read bible even she became a Christian 30 years ago.
And in history, Uighurs never had weared black and closed clothes, they weared :

This is their nation clothing, they don't wear Religious clothing, but now, since the spreaded extremist thinking, if one girl don't wear religious clothing, they will be in trouble, and some one with extremist thinking will make trouble,accusations, insults;
My opinion is: religion is a personal thing, you can't force others do anything on the name religion,if you do, this is spilling sewage on the religion.

Imagine if this incident happen in India .. What will happen in this thread ????

How is beard and veil Islamic basic? I have quite a few Muslim friends and none of them have beard or veil. Does it mean they are not good Muslims at all?

And in history, Uighurs never had weared black and closed clothes, they weared :

all this burqa and beard business is imported from india, through the tableeghi jamaat movement.

I don't think that came from India, because the first time I saw many women wearing a veil was in the UAE. Even there, I didn't notice to have seen many men wearing beard.

I have less problem with (a well groomed) beard than with a veil. Veiling a face in a public area is an absolute no go for me.

burqa historically is from iran region and then got adopted at some point into arab lands... but it got most adopted in the rest of south asia.

spread of socialism since the 1950's had removed burqa and beard from many lands, except from gulf, iran and pockets of india, but khomenei's death "fatwa" against rushdie in 1989 began to spread the burqa.

in india in the 90's, people working in the gulf brought back the burqa culture from there and it got added to khomenei's influence and got more added to india's deobandi mullah culture ( which is one of the three mullah streams, other two being wahabi from saudia and ayatollai from iran ).

india's mullah culture began to spread when money from the gulf kingdoms allowed the tableeghi jamaat to travel to other nations, to print books and then to own satellite tv channels like "peace tv" ( managed by zakir naik )... so indian mullah culture spread to south east asia, africa, china, russia, europe, america, west asia.

you know, the ikhwaan movement ( "muslim" brotherhood ) of africa and syria was much inspired by the tableeghi jamaat movement from india in the 1940's.

below is asiya andrabi, leader of a all-female burqa movement called "dukhtaran e millat" ( daughters of the faith ) in india-controlled kashmir... she started this movement i think in the mid 90's, and a few years ago, her group threatened to throw acid on those kashmiri ladies who did not wear burqa... she has spoilt the atmosphere in kashmir, but the indian national governments are not worried about this issue but about her separatist ideas ( independent kashmir ).

i wouldn't see burqa and beard in india about twenty years ago... now, india has probably the highest number of wearers of burqa and beard.

groups like taliban derive from the indian deobandi/tableeghi-jamaat movement.

What a load of faeces. Do your beliefs give you an inability to think and an ability to speak lies fluently?

India, India, India. I guess India introduce the burqa in Saudi Arabia as well.

Man, your 'analysis' is so contemptible, no wonder you guys never join the thinking world.
