In US and India billionaires have strong influence on their politics but in China billionares can only do their business and are not allowed in politics. That's true.

We don't speak English, that's where US strength lies in global entertainment, but at least in China, Chinese audience now perfer Chinese movies over US movies and we generate the biggest revenue in the world.

Dubbed movies can do , I have seen some dubbed chinese movies.

You should study democracy. Go to any level election, panchayat, municipality, state, centre in India. You will see governments being overthrown left and right because the masses chose to. Literally there is a election somewhere every single day in India. Does money influence ,yes, does it control/dominate, only in your dreams. While the CPC controls all riches of China and is always "right" even when wrong.

In case you don't know, China was the first republic in Asia and was a democracy between 1911-1949 , long before your independence from your former western masters, and we found it was a disaster and ditched it.

You allow barely 16 good Hollywood movies a year into China. And most of them are headline grabbing movies rather than good content movies. It obvious Chinese will chose local movies when they do not have access to good Hollywood movies in theaters.

Considering most, if not all, of what is produced by Hollywood is bile, the Chinese are not missing out on anything.

The only movie I saw in the past 20 years that had lasting effect on me was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The rest were meh, or worse. The Chinese know what they are doing.

A child that is a slave/servant/under their loving parent is not a slave. The Chinese choose to be under a loving parent in Beijing.

I love both chinese n hollywood movies.

Bollywood's recurring 'dance-everywhere-from roof-tops-to-trees' theme thats in every movie title bores me.

I find chinese n hollowood to utilise the dame settongs, while bollywood seems to follow a more tribal setting(due to the excessive dancing)

Just different cultural tastes I guess.

Well you could simply dub it into English and problem solved. However US movies are a success because they are dubbed into multiple languages.

However even the language isn't enough to appeal to local audiences. Subtle changes in cultural settings are also made.

China simply hasn't made any movie that appeals to global audiences and so isn't going to go through the hassle of Internationalization.


Plus having mainly Chinese actors in some types of movies may have a lagging credibility issue. You are still seen as backwards and not inventors to most of the world. So having some futuristic Star Wars type movie with an all Chinese cast may look out of place.
