China army is the best and biggest in the world(As per yr post), hence we are compelled for the expenditure on our defense....coz even a fawn fights a Lion to save its life and here China is a mighty dragon & India is trying to tame it by our modernization of IA,IAF,& IN ..............After all our capabilities provide deterrence.......
Well about public n their needs, it is also being taken care of so u don't have to worry, becoz if INDIA won't be there then where will be the public live to survive, so INDIA n its Defense are parallel with its Public........... so.. SHUT THE HELL UP............

Sensible words. The biggest enemy India faces at the moment is not outside of India but are instead the cronies in charge of India, who look out for themselves before the country. The ex-army General in the OP is probably one of those who have reaped the rewards of lobbying for more public funds to be diverted to defence spending, no doubt getting nice rewards from arms dealers for doing so. India already possess enough military force to deter anybody, including China, from any aggressive behaviour. The China threat is being exaggerated for ulterior and no doubt selfish motives. Indian taxpayers money could be better spent on building more domestic infrastructure, improving basics like clean drinking water for everybody and reliable electricity supply throughout the country. Improving the livelihood of the average Indian should be the Government's priority along with access to good education and healthcare for everyone. Once people are healthy and educated, then India can push forward with their economy.

Bullshit. By arming Pakistan to the teeth, they have created a persistent threat to us. Its ahrd for India to act on terrorists when they have nukes and they know it. Taking care of our ppl, wil always be a priority but by arming Pakistan with the latest tech that they cannot get anywhere else, supporting regimes that are pro China in nations surrounding us and aiding militant groups in India, their whole purpose is to slow the development of our country so India can be no threat to them in the future.

Bullshit. By arming Pakistan to the teeth, they have created a persistent threat to us. Its ahrd for India to act on terrorists when they have nukes and they know it. India cares for its citizens after all we citizens are its property, by spending on Defence, India is trying to protect those properties from getting harmed. is trying to save ones property wrong, then why does everyone cry here on India's defence spending. If u compare the amount spend on betterment n development of Indian masses the spending on Defence program is negligible. but still every TOM-DICK-n-HARRY is trolling here about negligience towards public, lack of toilets, poverty, etc. but they wont discuss the true facts. so he had it coming, if by ny means i have hurt yr feelings then im sorry

I wish I could compliment this post on its understanding of the dynamics of Indian defence, but I cannot. The ex-Army General in question fought off all attempts to get him to 'cooperate', and reported one of the culprits to the Defence Minister. Far from getting rewards from arms dealers, he stood aloof. His post-retirement political activity is not something I support, but was inevitable, given the very raw deal he was handed out by a cabal in the Army.

Loose remarks made with hopelessly inadequate background knowledge do not contribute much, they even detract from other sensible points being made. While there is worth in some of what your post said later, it is wholly obscured by the personal observations made.
