While the child can have both passports, when he/she reaches adulthood, as soon as the US passport is put into use, the Chinese citizenship is automatically revoked. If US allows pregnant tourists to enter the country, then it's certainly not China's problem.

I would advise against such action however due to the US extrajudicial tax code. Doing that in Canada or Australia would be a far better option. The wealthy class actually are well aware of that. The only people who are doing this are the lower middle class acting on bad information.
