China’s Typical Expat: Male, Doesn’t Speak Chinese, and Loves It Here

I wonder if that's the reason why so many foreigners, mostly westerners, go to places like Thailand. For China tho, an easy lay place? Chinese women never , for me that is, came out as the type to be so easy. They're more prudent , if ever. Well, if i judge my experiences in dating Chinese vs Korean vs Japanese vs American girls.

China is an 'easy lay' place for white westerners. That's just a fact.

I thought that Red Districts and such are outlawed in China? Well, im just surprised to hear this, then again i never went to China for that purpose or looking to get 'lucky' there.

Btw, I absolutely abhor westerners, specially white men , who come to Asia for purely sex-related tourism. Sex tourists and related human trafficking is sickening and should be outlawed.

You're confusing easy lay with sex tourism. They're not the same thing.

A segment of humanity will go from a place where vice is not tolerated to places where it is.

If gambling was widespread Macau wouldn't be big.

I'm sure there is some country in the Middle East that looks the other way when it comes to alcohol (lLebanon?) and they get an influx of party people.

Same with the sex thing.
(and if not many Chinese go to Thailand you can infer why. Odd why some nightclubs are in the basement of hotels...hmm)

There is no red light district, but there are certain shady areas like everywhere where prostitution thrives.

For me, the issue of human trafficking is serious, given the abuse of people experience (physical/sexual, psychological). I've read so many reports of the 'sex tourism' in many parts of Southeast Asia, heck even in Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe etc. And the pedophilia that occurs in such instances is enough to sicken any man or woman.

There really should be more global awareness of this, and to counter it.

I don't think global awareness is the problem, there is already plenty, even to the point of stereotypes being created when describing the exploitation situation in some nations. Global action is what is needed. The US can rally many nations to fight financial fraud, cybercrimes and radical militants, perhaps the US should take some initiative, approach the Chinese and ask for their help combating exploitation in East-Asia? The world knows what takes place, it just doesn't have the will or desire to do anything about it and this is a shame.

Most expats in china have their own agendas its a dam shame the government is lenient on them, if they did some of the things they do here in foreign countries they would have been branded as terrorists. Meh Good thing there are stricter laws now kicking them out.

No, i have not.

I actually know one of them, Charisma man: in the west, Charisma-Man was just a loser burger flipper high school dropout. But in Japan - he is Charisma Man - considered handsome, well groomed and educated. If you have any doubt about whether this joke is true or not, just read Almost Transparent Blue by Murakami Ryu.

I think the only way to improve the quality or expats into China is to increase the standards. Chinese schools should employ those whom have at least graduate level education, and with positive reflections on China. They shouldn't recruit American or Western new-grads because these grads are usually looking to make a 'quick buck' to help pay off their college loans.

Unfortunately, this is what I've noticed the kinds of 'English Teachers' that are being recruited to say China and Korea. I've had several students in the past who graduated from my university, and went to teach at an English school in Korea for a 2 year contract. They pay them well, actually, the school provides and pays for housing costs. And when they come back to the states they tell me that integral to their decision to teach in Korea was to "pay off my college debt quickly". Remember, many of these 'recruited english teachers' didn't even pass state teaching licensure in the US.

China and Korea should recruit licensed teachers who have some kind of graduate degree if it wants to improve quality.

I do not see why this is a bad thing for China, especially for China's academic and intellectual interest is concerned.

In regards to quality, I do agree that Chinese schools should enforce a more competitive standards board. You want the best of the best coming to your country to teach, after-all. This is how it happens in Japan. Western-teachers that come to Japan are selected rigorously and go through a series of battery tests that takes into consideration their maturity level, intellectual level (IQ), personality tests, level of education, and working understanding of the Japanese language as well as a positive reflection on Japan and Japanese society/ culture. All others that don't make the cut are not selected.

White trash like that are the very reasons why Japan should never allow low quality professionals into the country. Secondly, that Blanc individual was not an academian, and he entered the country for purely insipid reasons. He should be ejected and classified persona non grata. This applies for all sex predators that try to take advantage of the Japanese Race.

I agree on all fronts, my friend.

China should re-define what is an expert/expat is. They should have higher standards and very strict enforcement of carefully-written laws.

For a start, nothing below a PhD and work experience (plus, maybe 30+ years age threshold) should be considered/employed/given work visa as an expert.

This criteria should include English teachers. Those schools that breach the law and employ low quality/unqualified persons should be heavily fined and, in case of a repeat of the crime, closed down.

I guess it has to do with development, however, as you climb up the ladder of economic development, you will have more stricter and higher benchmarks. Japan, as I learn from you, seems like such a case where laws are well-written and well-enforced.

I have shared in the past reports on China's own efforts to redefine the expert/teacher business and set up a more strict oversight. But, a state-society cooperation is still lacking in China, with greedy schools employing the White trash for the sake of easy bucks.

I am against to entirely closed down China's professional sectors to foreigners but standards must be really high. Besides, the persons must be closely monitored/tracked when they are in China. They may be enforced to report to local police station every month or something like this can be done, as a start.

English teaching, in the meantime, should not be considered an expert profession and completely closed down as an import sector.

The Western expat problem is not simply an issue in China, it is all over Asia. It has to do with the level of development. But this is not an excuse. The government should come out forcefully and without mercy.
