China's role in Sri Lanka economy grows

Oh I meant North of Srilanka. That's where India is hehe. Btw I am north Indian I like that part better. But some tourists like South India more cuz of the beaches and stuff. They go Goa for tanning and parties. And then there are tourists who are into meditation, yoga, soul searching inner peace etc. etc. they visit North India.

Thanks for your introduction. Yeah, Chinese tourists who visited SL are actually enjoying the beach and sunshine there, coz it's cold in China as winter comes. It sounds like south India are similar to SL. I only knew Taj Mahal before, via pictures and films.

Meditation or soul searching inner peace? That's cool, I have to say.

Then they go back to their countries :D btw they also do that cheap Indian Mountain grass I dont like it myself

Sri Lanka infrastructure projects are well executed and well planned.Fast paced development in Sri Lanka and in particular Colombo is a great delight to many South Asians. Many projects are undertaken by Malaysians,Singaporeans,Thais,Japanese and Koreans.Nice to see China keen to participate in development projects and enhancing trade and social intercourse with Sri Lankans.
May Sri Lanka continue to prosper in peace and tranquility.

I think Malaysia is a perfect module of governance and economy Lanka should emulate.. Giving national priority over any ethnic or religious interests within a framework of a multi party democracy.. It's a more suitable platform than one party states like Singapore.. Unfortunately what we lack is statesmen like Dr. Mahatir Mohammed

Malaysia is indeed one of the top investors in the island

Hope its Great news for Lankans . Having other country's role in your country generally mess up things

Hope they develop their country in full speed. Development will solve most of the problems they are facing currently.

but SL has to face many many challenges that all states in india combined dont have to face

Your country is politically stable, it's pulling in all the investments, the port is up and running, tourism's blooming....Not that the Indian states are not developing, but it seems like you are well ahead.

Actually SL is a mixed bag,

Galle can be compared to many south indian beaches.
Unawatuna has Golden beaches and one of the best in SL and South Asia, Passikuda, in east SL has white beaches like many islands in Pacific seas do.
Central parts of SL look more like european country (especially Nuwara Eliya).

So SL is different from South India though it has a soun indian flavour in ppl, culture

there are certian areas we are ahead of india, but we have to face UN stuff, civil war effects.....

Sri Lanka gives you beaches just as beautiful plus much more.. Ancient culture, monuments, Ancient Buddhist temples, Colonial heritage and amazing wildlife.. So I think Chinese arrivals will overtake Maldives in the coming years.. Especially since the end of war

There may be many critics of China, but I have to say China's involvement in Sri Lanka has been for the benefit of the country, both politically and economically. India is being held hostage by Tamil Nadu vis a vis its relations with Sri Lanka. Thus, breaking out of India's stranglehold on the island has been something in Sri Lanka's interests, and this would not have been possible without China's support and growing influence on the world stage. China's diplomatic and military support to Sri Lanka in defeating the LTTE will never be forgotten, and today Sri Lankans live without fear of bomb blasts, suicide bombers, child soldiers and ambulance sirens blaring day in and day out. Others sitting in their ivory towers may not understand what a change the end of war has brought to Sri Lanka, but the benefits have been real and tangible.

Therefore, it is in Sri Lanka's interests to support China's rise and work in partnership with China to develop the island (this is already happening at a rapid pace). It's a shame India is kow towing to the backward cretins running Tamil Nadu and placing its relationship with Sri Lanka - which could be the best it would have in its immediate neighbourhood - at risk, and then having the temerity to blame China. Who in their right mind would place their foreign policy under the guidance of uneducated ex film stars from one of the country's most backward states? One cannot blame the Chinese for extending their hand of friendship to Sri Lanka under the circumstances.

谢谢你,中国!
