I will surely rank Deng more than Mao though

Mao planted the tree, and Deng found a good way to made the tree grow. I personally also rank Deng higher than Mao, but that's my personal opinion, many if not most Chinese people may not agree with me.

I think without Mao, China can be still developed too.

We can see it in Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and many overseas Chinese worldwide.

What Deng Xiaoping did is liberating Chinese people to advance and get rich.

While what Mao Zedong did is by restricting it down to the poverty and backward, because he believe that Chinese people is not white people, that is why Chinese people can't advanced without his help.

BTW, liberating Chinese people is not hard to do...

But what Mao and Deng greatest achievement is a good governance, a good working culture in the Chinese government. Because at first, they disbelieve Chinese people is that great, so they work hard to build a good government structure, to help the people.

But it turn out, Chinese people is also great.

Good government + great people = big bang!

I think without Mao, China can be still developed too.

We can see it in Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and many overseas Chinese worldwide.

All of them are smaller than a Chinese province in either land size or in population, it's always a very easy job to develop a small place with little population, for a continental size massive country with one fifth of world total population is completely a different story. China can turn Shenzhen from a small fishing village into a world renowned mega city in lese than 4 decades, but even god can not make it happen to the whole China.

I have lived in Beijing for 16 years. I hate Beijing's climate. Chongqing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Changsha, Nanning, Kunming... is the city I want.

Not only did Mao united China. He implemented land reform, free the serfs, promoted women, educated the population, introduced barefoot doctors, fought US to a standstill in Korea and routed the Indian army creating over 50 years of peace at China's NE and the Sino Indo border.
