China's outsourcing industry to beat India soon

.
As you say then. You are RIGHT. No problems with that too :D
But seriously my intentions where on ENGLISH language and the customer response :D
Fact: USA people don't like Indians doing outsourcing for their services even if they don't hate India.
They actually hate China so I was wondering how they gona react to that :D
Plus what you say was about tourism and business those are different things when parties dealing are at same level when you are serving its lot different

.
Really strange that when people think of outsourcing the use of English immediately comes to mind to make that successful, that is false perception. I used to work closely with leading outsourcing vendors in India which have surprisingly moved to China as well, from my observation the China staff there support many countries in BPO related areas inc Japan (Japanese speaking locals), HK (Cantonese). Not too much English related countries as India is there to support them. There are many large local companies also involved in BPO in China like isoftstone which Indian vendors are trying to compete in China.

Also I worked with the DTCC company back in 05, they primarily deal reconciliation of trading position on the major US stock markets. The operations for some of their major reconciliation is run out of Shanghai and I asked their boss why they decided to open an office there instead of India he mentioned it was due to the meticulous and technical nature which they felt that Shanghai had the talent pool to support what was needed. (I asked this because I was surprised at them opening in China)

Considering the volume of transactions taking place on the exchange every second of the hour DTCC has an impressive record, my company has hundreds of billions in position and their reconciliation is hardly ever wrong.

I'm writing this to give a taste of the outsourcing areas in China not limited to just simple support centers, and I reckon what I have seen so far is just a basic level of the outsourcing work that goes on.

.
God luck to China with this. We dont want to be known as world's back office anymore.

But just out of curiosity; what would have been the reaction of the chinese if the title read : " India's outsourcing industry to beat China soon. I guess we all know

I only wrote the above because I am not sure what level of outsourcing do most people get involved with here though I am sure that many on this forum are employed by this industry. At my level I select the companies which we outsource too so my knowledge of the process goes way further then most which is why I wrote the above.

IMO I am not concerned who beats who, one of the Indian chaps I work closely with is in fact in China with his family now on such an assignment, truly a good man of great character which I cannot say of many managers I have encountered with. Others like him are in fact assisting China in this outsourcing story so its a combined effort.

One should be aware of all the facts before passing judgement.

No one is passing any judgement here. Read it again. It's just good luck with little poke :D
If you have really worked in outsourcing industries like BPO you might be aware of customer response. It goes all the way from your nationality to accent to your education to country. You can't imagin what the guy will ask you for no reason.
The local outsourcing business that you mention is already in China and HK. But if China has to become no1 here it has to capture EU and USA market.
And that was the poke for. No teasing. Trust me you will talk to any customer but never to one from USA :D
I kicked that job in one month

not going to happen for at least this decade. there are a lot of highly complex work that india manages to do which is outsourced to it. many integratio projects, Investment banking IT, basel 2 regulatory IT work, nowadays even teh Business analysts are being outsource to india. and not to mention production support. and this is only the banking and fin industries.
I dont know much more about al the others but they are also fairly huge.
It may happen as they develop more skills , but I hope by then india will be doing more value added work or product development.

cost of outsourcing has very little to do with labour cost, the everage India labour cost is around 1/3 of China's, but China has huge lead in terms of infrastructure and logistic efficiencies which brings down the overall operation cost in China..

for example, the shipping and logistic cost contribute like 45% of my final products from my two factories, and the raw material costs another 30%, labour, manageing and others are the rest

I believe it will happen very soon, maybe within 5 years. because despite China has the efficiency lead but also we have the lead in Innovation and R&D area (even more than the operation cost ones)

However, due to the language barrier, I dont think China will become another call-centers but more in software processing and development areas

But don't you think we cannot put the same yardstick of your company across??? I mean it depends upon what kind of industry we are talking about...for example in a purely service based company(like IT/BPO's) bulk of the operational costs include wages to the employees, no??

all i can say is that the investment i work for did not consider any other country. they chose 3 it vendors in india to outsource (wipro , tcs, cts)
they will catch up no dobt, just as india will catch up by building infrastructure but not in the near future. ALo if you see, in the financial IT space most managers who are not white are indians. if you look at the Dir level employees there are much more indians than chinese (mainlanders) probably 30 to 1 and that too in a country like Singapore.
and in my company probably 20% of Dir level in the IT side are indians, 40% of VP levels are INdians.

No worries mate, I've been in the fray long enough so am immune to any innuendos :D

Thankfully most of the work we do are between professional organizations so we deal very little of such crap, then again we have a very tight screening and training process which ensures the teams are of a good competency.

My teams do face discrimination from time to time but unlike one of calls they need to constantly follow up with the same people to get issues resolved. Either way if they run into any problems my onshore team has their back and we have ways of making the bullsh*t stop. Hence our model is different from the usual one of call centers but constant liaising with other counterparts.

I have no doubt about that, India is still definitely the lead in off shoring for the years to come. I also work with the IT side of our off shoring business and that is also heavily reliant on work with the offshore vendors.

My main point is to say that there are lots of hidden outsourcing work in China that most are not aware off (even myself). To be honest I am quite curious to talk to some of the local vendors to see the scope of their operations.

in our case, we use both Indian and Chinese resources.

For Chinese part, we hire accounting liaison in Dalian, China, which has a large data processing center using Ufida system sponsored by a Chinese data and program provider, they also provide SAP and Oracle data arrangement.

As mentioned the organizations above or least Wipro and TCS that I know of have operations in China (i.e moving their current outsourced work to China). This is also on request of us as clients who want a BCP which is not locate in India and the staff they are hiring are not small either plus its increasing (local mainland staff).

My IT department is structured differently with locals holding the higher position (British chaps) we do have an Indian chap and a Sri Lanken chap who are high level programmers. Both excellent at what they do.

China (Superpower) is now trying to beat India (just a 3rd world country)?????????????? I never thought I'll ever see this day..

anyway..best of luck.
LOL at indian inferiority. We took away from a starving indian his last piece of naan.

Good luck with that China :D
I would love to see Chinese people interacting with outter world :)
China is a security council permanent member. india is just a third world hole with so much BS coming out from the mouth and everywhere on the street.

God luck to China with this. We dont want to be known as world's back office anymore.
You really want to know what you are known to the world as? :)
