China's OKINAWA IN Indian Ocean Region -- Gwadar in focus -- Critical insights

no problem about it,Gwadar port i think is more about securing Chinese energy need's,i dont think we have something to worry about it

Pakistan is bound to help them as it will improve their economy also

IPI is bound to become IPC since we were the 1st one who backed from it
we r unnecessary creating Paranoia, even if China want to have some military application's from it,still they cant match IN strength in IOR with just 1 port and a handful of ships

Exactly.

I dont think I ever disagreed and neither does the author of the article.

China's biggest fear is over energy security and its routes of trade. This port helps with both.

11. At the same time, the temptation for a permanent Naval presence in the Indian Ocean area with a strategic naval base available for use by the Chinese Navy is likely to grow stronger despite their present denials of any such interest or intention. If and when that happens and if they accept the Pakistani offer to take over Gwadar for commercial and naval purposes, Gwadar could emerge as China's Okinawa in the Indian Ocean region.

And surely you understand the author's choice of Okinawa as a suitable comparison.

Did I choose the name "OKINAWA"?

I hope you understand the difference between "article writer" and "thread poster"

Distant possibility of Gwadar being used for naval purposes cannot be ruled out and India needs to be ready for that. Simple.

Another fear monger armed with nothing but paranoid speculation and misrepresentation. If China builds a sandcastle in Pakistan, India will call it an impregnable fortress aimed at curtailing Indian interest.

B.Raman the author of the article served in a very senior capacity in RAW. He does know what he is talking about. Unlike you he is not a kid sitting on a computer passing fanciful judgments about paranoia and speculation.

If you are too sensitive to China being portrayed as threat, i suggest that you tell your government to stop provocations. But then again who is going to listen to you in Beijing, its not like you have got a vote or even say. Open your mouth and you might end up getting jailed. I guess all that free democratic air has got to your head in Canada, wont do you all that good once you are back home.

If you don't like the thread just ignore it & stop trolling around.

PLAN is not coming to IOR's Okinawa in near future, already China have to deal with a number of adverse navies in South China Sea ,add to it the presence of U.S navy, the last thing they want will b splitting their navy for IOR and find another blue water adversary in the form of IN

@renegade,please dont bring democracy vs communism, and right to vote here,it had already ruined many threads

Pakistan will be an "Energy-Corridor" b/w Iran and China..Also from Gawadar port,Chinese will have direct access in Indian Ocean. It will boost Pakistan's economy too.So Chinese and Pakistani both have same interests in Gawadar Port.

The author is a former intelligence officer. His way of thinking has to consider all possibilities.

Fine fine, paranoid was too strong a word, but there just way too many of these threads already (this one being one of the better written ones, I admit) and they are the ones that get the most traffic and diverts attention from more disparate topics.

The only reason to open this thread because I felt it had some other valid points (like PSA and its proposed investment) and some others which had not been covered earlier (or maybe I missed them)

Mods - if you feel this thread should be merged/closed - its all yours.

The gentleman in question to whom i responded has already done his best to ruin the thread, i am sure my contribution is not required. Read his post in the thread, how many have contributed to the discussion?

Btw, the IN already has its eye on Gwadar with regards to the Chinese presence there, as we all know. If they are catering for this eventuality, then i suppose there is some merit in the argument. They are the experts on this matter. Are they not?

A bit of variety is nice once in a while. Don't you agree? especially when the topic has already been covered.
