According to People's Daily, the Type 094/093 (I assume it is the late model) is only slightly noisier than the Ohio/Seawolf class, whereas PLAN's newest nuclear sub will be among the most silent ones in the world.

With China able to producr pumpjet propulsion system for its SSN. Its not hard to believe China submarine technology improves tremendously. Only less than 5 countries able to produce pumpjet system for SSN.

The new SSN must have a top speed around 35 knots which is comparable to that of Seawolf/Virginia, so its nuclear reactor must have a groundbreaking improvement from its predecessors.

Do you see the water line after both ships? It does mean that both ships are sailing at their maximum speed during the military drill.

Meanwhile, the SSN is the vanguard of the carrier battlegroup, it has to sail no slower than the maximum speed of the aircraft carrier itself.
